It's April, and that means it's time for the Gala. All our students, adults, and staff are working on special projects for the April 27 event. Each class, with the help of our Art Therapist, Linda Flora, decorated a birdhouse for the silent auction. These birdhouses will brighten any garden or room in your house with the joy of our students. Under the guidance of Phyllis Moser, our adult program participants are painting beautiful clay pots in a Monet theme. The silent auction will also include artwork by our secondary class and several individual pieces by our students. For the live auction, our students and adults are working together to create a multi-media mountain scene on canvas. Let the bidding begin!
We celebrated the solemn season of Lent by earning crosses that were placed on our Chapel door to show how we love Jesus. We collected canned goods for the Mifflin Community Food Ministry and donated our loose change to Tails of Valor, a program that trains support dogs for our veterans. We had a special Lenten Penance Ceremony, and Yanitza made her First Reconciliation with Fr. Joe. We ended our Lenten season with a prayer service of the Stations of the Cross, with all students participating as readers, station card holders, cross, and candle bearers.
Guy’s Group met in March to discuss the importance of personal hygiene. Each young man in the secondary program received a goody bag of shampoo, soap, and deodorant, so they were prepared to clean up for school, work, and the Spring Dance!
Girl’s Club visited Ott’s Exotic Plants (for a tropical getaway) and had lunch at the So Much to Give Inclusive Café in Montgomery County, a Café staffed by adults with disabilities.
As we enter spring and the Easter season, we look forward to warmer weather, sunny skies, and our continued thankful wishes to all our benefactors and friends of John Paul II.
See you at the Gala!
