A Southern Baptist Association

From Your

Associational Mission Strategist

An Association is a group of Churches doing missions!

This statement is one of many statements as to why churches should support the local association. I am very grateful that many of our churches are involved in giving to missions as well as sending teams to various places to reach people with the Gospel. I can also say that I am grateful because one of the things that we do well together is supporting our local missional efforts by supporting our camp ministry. Each year we have many churches that contribute to this ministry in various ways. I know that without the local churches in our association supporting the camp ministry, we wouldn’t have this ministry. Throughout the many years this camp has been in existence, we have seen many lives changed through the camps each year. I am sure that many of our churches understand not only we couldn’t do these camps without the donations of supplies and cooking teams for each camp, but we would also not have a nice campground and facilities for these camps without funds to help with maintaining and improving our campground. For the past three years, we have been raising funds to go towards maintaining and improving our campground through a local golf tournament. While the golf tournament has been successful and a fun way for funds to be raised for the camp, our leadership feels that we would like for each church to take up a special love offering for our camp as this will allow more people to feel like they are supporting the camp through their gifts. We have established April 28th as a day we can emphasize our associational efforts and ask churches to have a love offering on this day for the camp ministry. It is our desire that our churches will share with the congregations the ways our churches work together to reach people with the Gospel and in particular the way we work together to impact lives through the camp ministry. We would also like for each church to have a special time of prayer in their services for the association that God will continue to work through each congregation and through our cooperative efforts in reaching people with the Gospel. We trust that each of our churches will help us by highlighting the association and taking up a love offering!

I want to mention as you see in this newsletter that there are two special events taking place in May. I am very excited that we will be having another Men’s Revival with a fish fry supper on May 6th at Harmony Baptist Church. I trust that many of the men from our churches will attend and bring an un-churched friend with them. I am also looking forward to having our First Annual Senior Adult Revival on May 9th at Byromville Baptist Church. This is going to be a special time for our Senior Saints to gather for a time of an inspirational worship service as well as enjoying a great meal and fellowship. I trust that in both events we will see God move in a mighty way!

I am grateful every day to serve as your mission strategist. I am always available to help our churches in any way that I can. I also have enjoyed filling in for our Pastors and churches that don’t have Pastors to preach from God’s word. I am always available to assist in this way. May God continue to bless our churches as we work together to reach more people with the Gospel.

The association office has a small emergency food pantry that ministers to those in need. Many of those who we assist only have a microwave and do not have access to a stove and/or oven, so the above listed items are primarily needed.

(Please check the expiration dates before donating.)

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP WITH THIS MINISTRY.

YOUR DONATIONS, AND ESPECIALLY YOUR PRAYERS, ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

What to do with all those old Sunday School books?

Don’t throw them away–bring them to SCBN Office

Bring your old SS literature to SCBN Center. (Please have the literature packed in good boxes) Chad Harris will take it to an Edwin L. Hodges Ministries collection site to send overseas. ELHM is a Christian literature ministry that collects donated Bibles, books, magazines, tapes, and tracts from American Christians and ships them to Bible schools, churches, missionaries, and ministries overseas. ELHM is a non-denominational, nonprofit, evangelical ministry.
