April 2024 Parent Pride Newsletter
Dear JCA Parents,

Happy Spring! I hope you find some well-deserved time to get outside and enjoy all the beauty of the season!

Here at JCA, the students have been working hard in their classes each day. I encourage all students to continue to prioritize their studies, take advantage of the opportunities for extra help, and finish the school year strong!

Our spring sports teams are off to a fantastic start! Come out and see a game and enjoy cheering on our very talented Angels and Hilltoppers!

Additionally, I invite you to take a look at our 2024 Summer camps. There truly is something for everyone. Encourage your family and friends with school-aged children to attend the wide variety of camp offerings. Our teachers and coaches love working with our current and future Angels and Hilltoppers!

Thank you to everyone who was involved in any way with Jubilate: “Adventure Awaits”! It was quite a trip! A huge thank you goes out to the Jubilate Committee, donors, parents, alumni, faculty and staff, student workers, and everyone who contributed in any way! This event was a success because of each of you! The JCA community is blessed to have your support.

Finally, our “calendar at a glance” was recently published. This includes back-to-school activity dates, holiday breaks, and other important information as you begin planning your summer!

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community!

Sincerely,
Business Office

Campus Ministry
This April will see the final Kairos of the year taking place. This will be an opportunity for our junior boys to experience the joy and renewal of Kairos with hopes of their leading their fellow classmates through the experience during their senior year. This decades long tradition of Kairos reminds us of the loving and supportive role the Lord takes in our lives every day.
Mothers’ Day Mass is a long-held tradition at JCA. All Juniors and Seniors are welcomed to invite their mothers and the mother figures in their lives to join them for mass on Friday, May 10th 2024, in the Student Activity Center at 12pm. Juniors are allowed to dress up for school that day but must remember to stay within the handbook guidelines. They will go to class through period 4 and then will proceed to the gym to meet their guests.

We ask that all juniors and their guests sit in the bleachers, chairs are reserved for Seniors and their guests. Of course, any Junior with a guest who specifically needs a chair is welcome to use them. All Juniors and Seniors are dismissed after mass to enjoy the afternoon with their moms.

Please reach out to campus ministry if you have any questions.

Special Events
Gratitude for Jubilate’s Adventure Awaits

On Saturday, March 23, 2024, JCA hosted and celebrated their 39th year of Jubilate, titled, Adventure Awaits. Yes, and what an adventure it was! Bolingbrook Golf Club was the venue for this fundraising event and our travel guides, Tracy & Brian Zabel and Nicole & Mike Murray took us to places on our bucket lists. Michele & Kurt Christensen and Jennifer & Bryan Buss transformed the ballroom to a journey mecca. There were airplanes hanging from the ceiling, hot air balloons on the walls and airplane backdrops along with pictures of travel destinations.
Our guests were encouraged to dress in outfits from their favorite countries/cities with Sr. Peggy and Sr. Barb judging the best costumes. Jubilate displayed over 150 auction items that were prepared by Katie & Ed Michel and Amy & Ken Mihelich. There was something for everyone to bid on, from Blackhawk tickets on the ice to JCA Hilltopper and Angels’ lockers. A couple of the highlights of the live auction were The Montana Ranch Adventure in Yellowstone and the Taylor Swift Guitar.

JCA awarded The Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate and The Carmelites of the Most Pure Heart of Mary the JCA Recognition Award for 2024. After dinner, our guests swarmed the dance floor and bopped to the lively music of SODA. Our enthusiastic student volunteers sold raffle tickets, cookies and helped our guests with their bidding devices.

Cash raffle prizes were awarded:
1st place - $10,000 – Dan Ward ‘55
2nd thru 6th Place - $1,000 – Pritz Family, Peggy & Ed Periu, Art Zakharov, Kris Payne & Colleen Quinn
