As we come to the end of April, the Wyoming School-University Partnership is excited to share the latest updates, initiatives, and opportunities that are shaping the future of education in Wyoming. Governing Board Meetings

Our next Governing Board meeting will be held on Tuesday April 29, 2025 6:15 - 8:15 pm MST. Location will be hybrid at UW Casper and on Zoom. Please review January's materials and if you weren't able to attend, a Zoom recording has been uploaded to the drive to get you all caught up.

Voices in the Field Albany County


On March 27th, WSUP was on the ground at Voices in the Field in Albany 1. Rock River School welcomed 180 students from Laramie High and Middle schools, Rock River High School, and Whiting High School. Huge shoutout to Malinda Garcia (Whiting), Stacie Anfinson (Rock River), their staff, and their students who collaborated to pull this year's event off. This year saw a new student advisory committee where students were at the helm of planning and logistics.

Wyoming Classroom Connections Tour


On April 10th, the Wyoming School-University Partnership and the College of Education connected with a number of educators, principals, and students across four WSUP member districts including Goshen 1, Laramie 2, Platte 1, and Platte 2. College of Education students toured classrooms and received a sneak peek of rural education.


We are looking to tour districts again in the fall around September 18-20. These tours are open to WSUP member districts.

Goshen County Career Fair


On April 16th, he Partnership team was at Eastern Wyoming College where they connected with and presented for Goshen 1 and Niobrara 1 students at the Goshen County Career Fair sponsored by the High Altitude Pathways Grant. WSUP director, Colby Gull worked with students in his College Match presentation and project coordinator, Nicholas Jesse led an event planning workshop for students in his sessions.

Ellbogen First Year Teaching Awards


The University of Wyoming College of Education invites recent UW College of Education graduates who are in their first year as classroom teachers, as well as students graduating this year who have accepted teaching positions to apply for the John P "Jack" Ellbogen First Year Teaching Award.


The College will award six, $1000 awards. The award can be used to purchase classroom materials or other expenses associated with providing unique learning experiences for students. First year teaching awardees will be required to formally present the outcomes of their project to undergrad students in the Fall 2026 Methods classes.

307 PLA Cohort 3 Nominations Are Open


The 307 Principal Leadership Academy is now accepting nominations and self-nominations of Wyoming principals, superintendents, and assistant superintendents. If you are a leader who is committed to the growth and development of professional educators, including your own professional growth, you are encouraged to apply. Be ready to work collaboratively and in large groups, while effectively managing commitments at work and at home.


Nominations are due no later than April 30, 2025. Direct questions to Dr. Margaret Hudson.

Secondary Literacy Community of Practice Meeting


Wyoming's Secondary Literacy Community of Practice would like to invite you to join their monthly meeting on Monday May 5th from 4:00 - 5:00 pm via Zoom: This meeting is for all who care about adolescent literacy: teachers, interventionists, coaches, admin, college & university faculty, teaching candidates, state department personnel, literacy consultants. In May they are welcoming the researchers from the Project for Adolescent Literacy who will guide you through a report on their recent research and brainstorming approaches to address obstacles in meeting the literacy needs of adolescents.

The Wyoming Department of Education, in partnership with the UW College of Education, is hosting its inaugural statewide educator conference, Teacher Con 2025. The conference will take place on August 4-5 at the University of Wyoming's Gateway Center. Early Registration pricing ends on May 1. The two-day PD experience will feature keynote speakers, breakout sessions, networking opportunities, and an awards dinner.

307 Principal Leadership Academy Conference


Save the date for the upcoming 307 Principal Leadership Academy happening August 5-6 at the University of Wyoming Union. Registration opens on May 1, 2025.


This event is for all principals, assistant principals, deans of students, and district-level administrators. Topics throughout the two-day event will include:

Educator Summit on Global Competency


Don't forget to register for the Summit on Global Competency which will take place May 19-20, 2025 in Laramie, Wyoming.


The summit will feature keynote speaker, Rich Kurtzman, author of Like a Fish in Water: How to Grow Abroad when you Go Abroad. Rich is also the founder and executive director at Barcelona Study Abroad Experience (BSAE).

Join Eastern Wyoming College and the Sunrise Historic and Prehistoric Preservation Society (SHAPPS) for an unforgettable summer of archaeology, history, and hands-on learning in beautiful Sunrise, Wyoming. Windy Ridge Foundation Astro Camp


The Windy Ridge Astro Camp, happening June 15-21, 2025, is now accepting applications for 24 students in grades 7-8. The application deadline is is April 30th. Applications submitted by May 8 will be considered pending camp capacity.


The camp is 100% free to participants.
