Hosted by Downtown Partners, Inc., the market will once again bring fresh produce, local goods, and a vibrant community atmosphere to Jefferson Street every Thursday from 4:30 to 7:00 PM, beginning May 1.
Shoppers can look forward to a variety of vendors offering farm-fresh products, handmade crafts, and delicious food options, all set against the backdrop of historic Downtown Burlington. The market serves as a gathering place for residents and visitors alike, supporting local farmers, artisans, and businesses.

The Spring Genealogy & Local History Workshop at Burlington Public Library is two full days of all things genealogy and local history!
With informative presentations from expert researchers, workshop sessions, a drop-in Learning Lab staffed with knowledgeable volunteers, an exclusive, specially curated book sale from the Friends of the Library and even genealogy for kids, you can learn about everything from getting started on family genealogy to getting around those stubborn brick walls in your research.
The workshop includes:
*Two Lunch & Learn sessions (Friday & Saturday)
*A drop-in Learning Lab for 1:1 help with genealogy/research questions - it's also a space to connect & chat!
*An exclusive book sale from the Friends of the Burlington Public Library, specially curated for genealogists and local history researchers
*A Kids' Genealogy Camp for kids age 9+ (Saturday)
*Keynote speaker Ricki King of Roots to Branches Genealogy

Iowa Initiative for Sustainable Communities Team Creates Arts and Culture Plan for Burlington and West Burlington
The Iowa Initiative for Sustainable Communities is leading efforts to shape the future of arts and culture in Burlington and West Burlington. As part of this initiative, an Open House event will be held on Friday, April 4, from 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM at the Burlington Public Library.
Community members of all ages are invited to attend and provide input on ways to enhance the local arts and culture ecosystem. Attendees can explore proposed ideas, participate in interactive feedback sessions, and visit the Kids Corner, where younger residents can share their creative visions for the community.
The event is free and open to the public. Residents are encouraged to stop by and contribute to the development of a vibrant arts and culture plan for the future.

Beads On One String Celebration
Mark your calendars for an inspiring week in April as the Beads on One String celebration takes over Downtown Burlington!
On April 17, 2025, singer-songwriter Dennis Warner will share his powerful message of unity and positivity with local elementary students during the day, followed by an evening concert at The Capitol Theater featuring his song, Beads on One String. This collaborative event, hosted by The Capitol, Burlington Public Library, Art Center of Burlington, and Downtown Partners Inc., will highlight themes
of diversity, inclusion, and connectedness. Leading up to the concert, the community is invited to participate in unique projects: create personalized beads at the Art Center, share stories through a Human Library Project at the Burlington Public Library, and enjoy an interactive Story Walk downtown, bringing Warner’s book Beads on One String to life.
These activities provide an opportunity for individuals of all ages to celebrate creativity, foster connections, and support local businesses. The event highlights the importance of unity and showcases the vibrant spirit of the Burlington community.

Downtown Partners, Inc. Business Signage Grant Program offers applicants up to $400 in matching grant funds for perpendicular “blade” signage for their businesses!
Blade signs have several benefits:
- Accentuating the traditional historic and walkable character of Downtown Burlington
- Emphasizing the Downtown district as a collection of small, independent, locally owned businesses
- Adding to the liveliness of the streetscape
- Freeing up sidewalk space occupied by sandwich board signs
- Encouraging businesses to explore their individuality and examine their branding
- Increasing business visibility for potential customers who would otherwise not know anything about the business unless they were directly in front of it
