CancerCare's Stories of Help and Hope

Throughout the year, CancerCare presents the stories of people who have cancer, their caregivers and more.

A cancer diagnosis can be a crushing blow. Imagine the anguish of hearing those same words again, years later. Our latest story is about Josh W., who bravely faced Hodgkin lymphoma twice—once during his college years and now again. With the wisdom of his past experience, Josh leaned on the strength of his support network and reevaluated his life's priorities, finding new meaning and purpose.

He now shares his story with many others in our Stories of Help and Hope.

Share Your Story

What others have gone through, their advice and perspectives, can often help those in similar circumstances. Whether as caregivers, loved ones or those with cancer themselves, these experiences can be enormously helpful for others facing a cancer diagnosis, from practical advice to knowing we are not alone.

AML World Awareness Day 2025

There is a need for education and support around the long-term physical and psychological effects of treatment for acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Many people are unaware of the impact of AML treatment on a patient’s long-term physical and psychological health, what management and supportive medical care is available for the long-term biological effects of AML, strategies to support patients with the long-term physical and psychological effects of AML treatment and where patients, caregivers, and families can find further information, support and practical advice.

AML World Awareness Day, on April 21, aims to educate the whole AML community and offers accessible resources to address these gaps. We ask individuals from around the world to come together to join us and help raise awareness of AML. Learn more about AML World Awareness Day 2025.

AYA Cancer Awareness Week

Adolescents, teens and young adults often face challenges unique to their circumstances, whether at school, at work, dating, with their parents or among their peers and more.

With April comes Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Awareness Week. We take this time to acknowledge the particular needs and viewpoints of these populations. CancerCare provides special resources for adolescents and teens as well as young adults who are impacted by cancer - as caregivers, loved ones or who have themselves been diagnosed with cancer.

Help With Clinical Trials

Clinical trials can be a big part of an individual's cancer treatment, leading to potential advancements in how cancer is treated and help for those who join them.

Join www.myTRIAList.org to find clinical trials and engage with interviews, tutorials and more that explain how valuable they can be.
