Dear Pastoral Assistants of Faith Formation and Catechists,
The Easter Triduum that we will celebrate in this month of April, invites us to participate in the Paschal Mystery of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
On Holy Thursday, we consider "Love that believes all." True love trusts, even within the difficulties that this new reality presents. In the family, if there is trust, it is possible for truth to emerge and deception and falsehood to be rejected. We celebrate: The commandment of love, the institution of the Eucharist and Holy Orders.
On Good Friday, we celebrate "The Love That Endures All Things." Patient love makes faith grow. As Pope Francis rightly points out, it is about the readiness of the spirit to face life positively, with hope, despite setbacks, to always respond with good. Let us not forget that the way of the Cross is the route of ascent to the Resurrection and, as rough as this path may seem, it is the right one to reach eternal life. We remember: the Passion and Death of Jesus, the generous gift of his life on the Cross with which he achieved the forgiveness of our sins. In some countries, the Sermon of the Seven Words is celebrated and the Virgin Mary in her Sorrow is accompanied conducting processions.
On Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday, "Love hopes for everything". Love knows how to wait, and it opens itself to new opportunities. It is a question, on the one hand of having hope and certainty of the life that awaits us beyond death, in heaven, but also, on the other, of the fullness that life in Christ brings us in this world. With Jesus we await His triumph, certain that these three days are only the right time for the grain that has been deposited on the ground to sprout and bear fruit. We celebrate: Christ, the light of the World, with the blessing of fire and light; recounting the History of Salvation in the Liturgy of the Word; the Baptismal Liturgy where catechumens receive the Sacraments of Initiation and continue with the Eucharistic Liturgy. Joyfully, we receive the Risen Jesus into our lives.
Let us invite our families to participate actively during these three holy days. Happy Easter to all!
