Quiet Corner Reads

We'll be discussing one of her books at our April 15th Book Club.

This year, we celebrate 20 years in this lovely building, generously funded by Andrew and Anna Mae D'Elia.


To help us celebrate, donate $20 to our Adopt-a-book program and have your name inscribed on a book plate to go into a new book that we purchase with the funds.


And then make plans to join us for some birthday fun on Saturday, June 7 from 9 a.m. - noon!

We'll celebrate with games, crafts, and refreshments.

It's Time To Vote


Stop by the library during the month of April to vote for your favorite Nutmeg nominated book!

The four categories are

Elementary (grades 2-3) Intermediate (grades 4-6)

Middle School (grades 7-8)

High School (grades 9-12).

The winners will be announced in May. Will your favorite win?

The books for 2026 will be on display soon.

Art Journaling for Teens & Adults


We meet on the 1st Friday AND the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 5-7 p.m. to add a new creative page to our journals. You will receive a journal on your first visit. Supplies and a topic will be provided. This month we meet on Friday, April 4 & Wednesday, April 16 from 5-7 p.m.

This month's book selection and tickets to the author event in Woodstock are available at the library.

Drop-in Springtime Craft


Children are invited to drop by during library hours from April 12-19, to make some cute paper flowers to celebrate spring. No signups required. All supplies will be provided.

Jigsaw Puzzle Competition

It's time for another puzzle competition. Teams of 4 work to complete a 500 piece puzzle. Contact the Canterbury Public Library at 860-546-9022 to register yourself and/or your team of 4. Open to ages 12 and up.

Building Club


We are meeting on Tuesday, April 22 for an Earth Day Building Club. We'll be creating toad or fairy houses with items from nature. You are welcome to bring something from home to add to your structure.

Stop by from 4 -5 p.m. to see what we are working on.

Electric Vehicle Charging Station


There is a charging station in the library parking lot for your electric vehicles. What you should know if you plan to use it:

  • Download the mobile app from the Android or Apple store at https://onelink.to/5kcvhw
  • First time users will select Charge as a Guest and will need to enter credit/debit card information before proceeding.
  • If you are a member you will need to select Account, Create Blink Code, and then enter the Blink Code when prompted.

Free E-Reader App

 Enjoy thousands of free eBooks, audiobooks, and more from your local library.

The Palace app offers you all the eBooks at the library in one easy-to-use app, so you can search once, find your title, and start reading in just a few taps. 


To get started, download the Palace Project app on your device, select the Scotland Public Library, and enter your 13 digit library barcode from your library card and PIN from your Verso library account. Contact the library with any questions.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten


Help your child prepare for school by reading to them everyday. Join the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program at the library.

It's easy:

  • stop by the library to pick up your packet.
  • keep a journal of all the books you share with your child
  • bring in your reading log for a prize to mark each milestone.
