A PRODUCTIVE FIRST QUARTER

The First Quarter of 2025 has been busy and productive for your Village Employees Benefit Fund. The VEBF Board meets monthly, and its committees meet as needed. For those of you who may not have received this information in another manner or at the Employees' Luncheon in December, we are grateful to the generosity of individuals like yourselves. As a result, we were able to present $400 to full-time hourly employees and $200 to part-time hourly employees. A total of 355 employees received the cash gift. I can tell you honestly, they were all incredibly grateful for your gift!

Employees came through again several weeks ago when the Village was virtually closed due to snow and ice. They worked under “not-so-safe” conditions, into the night hours after their shifts changed without complaint or excuses. That’s what makes living in the Village a safe and pleasant experience.

The Board is working on finding new ways to reach residents with our important story about the Annual Appreciation Gift. Unbelievably, some people who have lived here for a long time are unaware of our program. If you have an idea of how to reach folks, please call me (214-763-4602) or send an email via our website (vebf.org

Updates:

  • An Internal Audit of VEBF was successfully completed.
  • A system for File Retention, along with associated policies and procedures, has been implemented.
  • A Bylaws review committee was appointed, and it has completed its work with some clean-up changes to be voted on at the April meeting.

With the change in POA leadership, as well as other routine changes, we will be updating the website. The new GM at the POA, Ken Unger, along with Duane Tarbet and Carly Wiley from Human Resources, attended our January Board meeting. There was an informative exchange of ideas, as well as a huge thank you from them on behalf of the hourly employees.

Lastly, for this quarterly update, I am pleased to inform you that we have elected James Patton to the Board. His first meeting will be in April. Jim brings professional experience to the Board as well as involvement in the Civic and Service Club. He is committed to VEBF and its mission, and we look forward to having him on board!

Once again, thank you for your continued support. Share the mission with whomever you can and let us hear from you.

Carol Freeland, VEBF Board President
