Holmes Bible College

April 2025

From the Desk of the President

Greetings from Greenville!

April was a busy month and we are still rejoicing over everything that happened. Next month we will give you a full report on the annual James D. Leggett Golf Tournament but the day was very successful thanks to the leadership of Bishop Ray Boggs and Alumni President Bill Rose. We appreciate all who gave to this significant event.

We are looking forward to graduation in May and we invite you to join us. This will be an exciting day as we celebrate six students completing their studies at Holmes Bible College. The commencement ceremony will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, May 10.

During the summer break we will be very active visiting churches, conferences, and other special events. If you would like a Holmes representative to visit your church or event, please contact me today. I would love to share the good news about Holmes wherever we have the opportunity.

Thank you for your faithful prayers and sacrificial support. Your contributions help us to carry out the mission of God for this campus and keep costs low for our students. We appreciate each of you.

Grace and Peace,

Rev. Kevin D. Sneed, President

and the HBC family

2025 Alumni Banquet

Around 100 alumni and friends of Holmes Bible College gathered in the Ellenberg Center on campus during Founders Week for the annual Alumni Banquet. Alumni Association President, Rev. Bill Rose, recognized the vital and faithful support that the college receives from the alumni. Our graduates give generously and sacrificially to sustain and further the ministry of Holmes.

During the alumni banquet, the Alumni Committee presented two annual awards:

The Alumni of the Year Award was presented to W. A. Mills. Rev. Mills graduated from Holmes in 1985 and has served faithfully as a pastor and denominational leader. He is currently the national Men’s Ministry director for the IPHC and the chairman of the Holmes Bible College Board of Trustees.

The Missionary of the Year Award was presented to Joe and Maggie Delport.  The Delports graduated from Holmes Bible College in 1985 and began their career as missionaries to Southern Africa in 1987. After serving over 34 years, the Delports continue to work in Southern Africa to support the churches and spread the Gospel. Click here to see the letter from Bishop Talmadge Gardner honoring the Delports.

During the alumni banquet, former missionary Rev. Hobert Howard (class of 1948) and missionary Rev. Hugh Hoyle placed a prayer shawl from India on President Kevin and Summer Sneed and prayed that God would raise up new missionaries from Holmes Bible College under their leadership. This was a very powerful action and prayer.

All alumni and friends of Holmes Bible College are invited to attend our annual banquet in February each year. Make plans now to join us in February 2026!

Annual Faye Leggett Ladies Spring Tea

The ladies of Holmes Bible College held their annual tea party in March with around 30 ladies present representing Holmes students, staff, alumni, and friends. The guest speaker was Pastor Naomi Huff and the ladies honored the female students who will graduate in May. Staff and community ladies beautifully decorated the tables and organized wonderful food and treats. All ladies are invited to this annual event. We hope to see you there next year.

Thompson Scholarship Awarded for First Time

The D. Chris and Betty R. Thompson Scholarship Fund was established in 2024 with an initial gift donated by Bill and Gail Cox. In the Spring of 2025 we were able to award the first scholarships to be generated by this fund. Five students received this blessing including three domestic students and two international students. You are welcome to contribute towards this scholarship fund in honor of Chris and Betty Thompson by sending your gifts to Holmes Bible College with a note for this fund. We will be glad to add your contributions to this significant investment for the support of our students.

Holmes Bible College Represented at Major Conferences

In March, representatives from Holmes attended two major events to both participate and promote the school. First, we attended the IPHC National Pastors Conference in Lynchburg, VA where we connected with many past alumni and future students. HBC Alumni President Bill Rose was a speaker at this event and we also received a large donation of books from Lisa Johnson while in Lynchburg.

Next, we attended the the Hope Words Writer's Conference in Bluefield, West Virginia. We were able to interact with Christian authors, learn in writing seminars, and network with others. Our librarian, Carol Bush and freshman student, Rebecca Polk attended with the Sneeds. We all enjoyed riding the streetcar in Lynchburg in between sessions.
