Good Neighbor Authority Spotlight


A Good Neighbor Authority project between the Santa Fe National Forest and the New Mexico Forestry Division will help the city of Santa Fe increase its resiliency to threats from high-severity wildfire.

Competitive Grants Updates

Community Wildfire Defense Grant (CWDG) Program


Round 3 closed for applications on March 14, 2025. The verification and review process is currently in progress.

Landscape Scale Restoration (LSR) Competitive Grant Program


The fiscal year (FY) 2025 LSR grant application process is closed to applicants.

Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) Grant Program


The FY 2025 WUI grant application period is closed to applicants. This grant program has been scored, and the recommendation list has been sent to the Washington Office for final approval.

Member and Partner Transitions

  • Ben Newburn will serve as Acting Regional Forester for the USDA Forest Service Intermountain Region, effective April 28, 2025. Newburn will temporarily succeed Regional Forester Mary Farnsworth, who is retiring after 38 years of service.
  • Jason Kuiken will serve as Acting Regional Forester for the USDA Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region, effective March 31, 2025. Kuiken will temporarily succeed Regional Forester Jennifer Eberlien as she retires after almost 33 years of service.
