Dear Constituent,

Below is my latest Resource Roundup message, containing information about helpful programs, services, and opportunities from New York State government and other entities serving Assembly District 95. If you know of anything that should be included in a message like this, please feel free to send it to district95@nyassembly.gov

New Podcast Episode: Libraries

Speaking of resources, our local libraries are fantastic ones! If you haven’t already seen it, click here to watch or listen to my latest podcast episode, in which I discuss the wide variety of ways libraries serve our communities with two library leaders: Yvonne Cech of the John C. Hart Library and Jesse Bourdon of the Croton Free Library.

A Note re: Grants & Scholarship Opportunities

My office is retooling our strategy for sharing funding opportunities in light of the ever-shifting nature of federal funding at this moment in time. Grants and scholarships will now be a section of this Resource Roundup blast; see that section below for more details.

Chag Pesach Sameach to everyone celebrating Passover this week, and a blessed Holy Week to those looking forward to Easter on Sunday!

Sincerely,

Assemblymember Dana Levenberg

Spotlight on Energy Costs

Lowering energy costs continues to be a top priority of mine. I am continuing to work with colleagues on legislation such as the New York HEAT Act and others that would lower household costs and rein in the utility companies - click here to read more about those efforts. In the meantime, here are opportunities for you to take action on lowering these costs:

Comment in the Con Edison Rate Cases

If you live in the Con Edison territory and were not able to participate in the recent virtual public hearings, note that you can still comment in other ways. You can also give comments over the phone by calling the PSC’s Opinion Line at  1-800-335-2120. You can also submit written comments anytime before November 21, 2025; click here to post a comment in the gas case and here to post a comment in the electric case. You can also send letters with comments directly to:

Hon. Michelle L. Phillips, Secretary, Public Service Commission

Three Empire State Plaza

Albany, NY 12223-1350

You should include the case number 25-E-0072 for the electric case and 25-G-0073 for the gas case.

The Public Service Commission is in the process of scheduling in person hearings; my office will share more information about these opportunities when those details become available.

Financial Assistance Programs

If you are having difficulty paying your bills, or have fallen behind, click here to learn more about financial assistance programs offered by Con Edison and here to learn more about assistance offered by Central Hudson

Communities shaded in blue are part of the Westchester Power Community Choice Aggregation program.

Good News from Westchester Power

If you live in a community that is part of Sustainable Westchester's Community Choice Aggregation program, Westchester Power, take heart: your electricity supply rates are fixed through the end of November, and actually recently went down! You should have received a notice in the mail alerting you to your new, lower rate. If you live in one of the municipalities served by Westchester Power but previously opted out, you can opt back in by calling Sustainable Westchester at 914-242-4725, emailing westchesterpower@sustainablewestchester.org, or clicking here to fill out their online enrollment form

GridRewards: Earn Money for Reducing Your Electricity Usage

GridRewards connects to your Con Edison account to track your electricity usage and gives you cash rewards for reductions. It offers tips to help lower your energy consumption to maximize your potential earnings and notifies you about events during which energy usage is likely to be at its peak in your area. When you reduce energy usage during these peak times, you earn more money.

GridRewards is currently running a special giveaway for users who refer their friends to the app. By sharing your code, you have the chance to win TWO months of free electricity! This offer ends April 30. Click here to learn more and sign up.

Know Your Rights

Our nation is experiencing an unprecedented assault on the rule of law, which threatens our personal liberties and our prosperity. Because of this, it is more important than ever for us to understand and stand up for our rights. Every person in the United States has rights under the United States constitution and other federal laws. New Yorkers have additional rights per our state constitution and state laws.

In an effort to keep the community informed about our rights, my office has begun maintaining Know Your Rights pages in English and Spanish, updated with authoritative information and resources from the Attorney General’s office and other organizations. If you know of additional lists or resources you feel should be added to this page, please send us an email at district95@nyassembly.gov.

CDPAP Transition Update

If you or someone you know participate in the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP), please note that the deadline to enroll with the new fiscal intermediary, PPL, has been postponed again to allow for more time to transition. Consumers now have until Thursday, May 15 to register; the registration deadline for workers is now Friday, June 6. Click here to learn more.

Grant & Scholarship Opportunities

Instead of a dedicated e-blast, my office will begin sharing information about funding opportunities in this Resource Roundup on a regular basis. This section will send reminders about state-level opportunities like the Consolidated Funding Application (CFA) grants and share information we receive about opportunities from private foundations. For more information about state-level grants and where to sign up to receive information relevant to your organization, please feel free to call my office at (914) 941-1111 during regular business hours. If you are aware of funding opportunities that we can share with our audience, please reach out to my communications director, Acacia Mauriello, at maurielloa@nyassembly.gov. Here are a couple of upcoming opportunities to be aware of:

Jeff Lawrence Innovation Fund Manufacturing Grants: The Jeff Lawrence Innovation Fund Manufacturing Grants are designed to encourage collaboration between not-for-profit organizations and small to medium-sized manufacturing companies in New York State. The grants serve as a resource to help companies achieve success from early stage, proof of concept, through maturity. The partnership created by the not-for-profit organization and the industry partner serves as a pathway to technology transfer, adoption and implementation of new manufacturing processes, as well as the creation of enhanced products and services. The application period for this phase will run from Tuesday, April 15 through Wednesday, May 14; click here to learn more and apply

Funding Futures Fellows: Partners for Climate Action Hudson Valley has a new training and grant program that will select four Funding Futures Fellows, teaching them how to work with their communities toward environmental change. The deadline to apply is Friday, May 23; click here to learn more and apply. There will be online information sessions at noon on Thursday, April 17 and Friday, May 2; click the dates to register.

Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. For up-to-date travel information, call 511, visit www.511NY.org or download the free 511NY mobile app.
