Description of your business and how/when it all began.

Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association is your local electric cooperative, and we’ve been proudly powering homes and businesses across Wright and Hennepin counties since 1937. We were founded on a simple, yet powerful idea: to bring safe, reliable, and affordable electricity to our communities when no one else would.

How has your business contributed to the community?

Electric cooperatives like Wright-Hennepin are built on a set of core principles that guide everything we do. These principles ensure we always put our members and communities first. One of these principles is Concern for Community. Wright Hennepin is committed to the sustainable development of the Rockford/Greenfield Community. As a member-owned cooperative, we believe strong communities and strong businesses go hand in hand. That’s why we actively support economic development efforts that bring jobs, innovation, and long-term success to our region. We know that a thriving local economy benefits all our members through increased opportunities and a more vibrant community. Wright-Hennepin is dedicated to investing in the future of our service area by supporting new and existing businesses, attracting investment, and helping communities grow.

What is something you admire about the Rockford/Greenfield Community?

I admire the relationships that Wright Hennepin has developed within the Rockford/Greenfield community through all the opportunities that the chamber offers. Forming partnerships with area businesses with the common goal of promoting the community and assisting businesses with growth.

Our annual Spring Community Expo co-hosted with the Rockford Community Center on March 14th was a huge success, once again! We had over 70 booths, entertainment on the stage, RC Racer Car Tracks, Batting Cages, fun raffle prizes, and amazing community connection. A very special THANK YOU to Melissa Joseph, the Rockford Community Ed Director, for planning and hosting this amazing event. And I can’t forget to also say a huge THANK YOU to our Rockford-Greenfield Chamber Board for the many hours of planning, setting up, tearing down, and making sure the whole event ran smoothly. The Chamber Board is comprised of all volunteers who deeply care about our community. The Chamber would not be what it is today without them and I am honored that I get to work alongside these wonderful professionals.

Looking ahead, our next April Event is the Annual Tax Mixer. This is a fun, low key event to network with community members and business owners in the middle of a busy spring. A drink ticket and light apps will be provided. Thank you to Billy’s Rockford Bar and Grill for hosting us from 4-6pm on April 16th. Hope to see many of you there! As always, please reach out to the chamber if you have any event ideas or feedback. We want to see our community grow and thrive and it takes many great minds of collaboration to continue that mission. Happy Spring!
