Happy National Volunteer Month

April is National Volunteer Month!

Volunteers are the heart of Valley Outreach. Their time, energy, and compassion make it possible for us to meet the growing needs of our community every day. Last year alone, more than 800 volunteers helped us serve 31,900 people in need—an incredible impact made possible through their dedication.

From stocking shelves and sorting donations to assisting clients and offering a listening ear, volunteers fill countless essential roles. Each task, big or small, helps ensure that individuals and families have access to the support and dignity they deserve.

Partnership with Twin Cities Food Justice

We’re proud to partner with Twin Cities Food Justice (TCFJ), which helps rescue surplus food and deliver it to local hunger relief organizations. Through this partnership, food from Valley Outreach that may not last over the weekend, but is still good, is quickly redirected to other food programs instead of going to waste. Last fiscal year, TCFJ redistributed 13,550 pounds of food from Valley Outreach alone—helping ensure good food reaches those who need it most.

National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive - Saturday, May 9

Hey Stillwater Residents! Keep an eye on your mailbox — the Stamp Out Hunger food drive is coming your way! On Saturday, May 9th, place a bag of nonperishable food next to your mailbox. Your letter carrier will handle the rest! All donations will support Valley Outreach and the people we serve.

Cold Weather Rule Ends April 30

As temperatures rise, the Cold Weather Rule is coming to an end on April 30. This protection helps residential customers avoid heat shutoffs during the winter.

SNAP Under Threat: How New Policy Impacts the Community

Valley Outreach continues to serve the community, but federal SNAP changes under

H.R. 1 could reduce food assistance for thousands of Minnesotans, including families, seniors, veterans, and people experiencing homelessness. With SNAP providing about nine meals for every one from food shelves, these cuts will increase demand on local hunger relief efforts and make it harder for families to access consistent food support.
