From the Director

I’m thrilled to share that the Sanford Art Walk is moving to the Springvale Library beginning May 8. Join the Sanford Arts Commission’s Art Walk on the second Friday of each month, May through August, from 4:00–7:30 pm.

In June, July, and August, the Art Walk will coincide with our monthly Music After Hours concerts that start at 6:00 pm and go to 8:00 pm. Enjoy a glass of wine or beer, the concert, live art, shopping, and artistic engagement. It’s a great way to celebrate art, live music, and community connection together under the summer sky. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic summer and celebration of local talent.

Cheers, Lesley

Spice of the Month

The April Spice of the Month is... Za'atar! This is one of my (Sam) all time favorite spices and I use it almost every day. Za'atar is a Middle Eastern spice blend made of different dried herbs, seeds, salts, and fruit peels. It is loaded with flavor, has great texture and even has health benefits from soothing inflammation to boosting cognition. No two Za'atars are alike- it is completely different depending on the region. If you have turned yourself into a Za'atar snob (like I have), you can even make it yourself with high quality ingredients. If you like this, then you will love the Egyptian blend Dukkah! Check out this month’s recipe online or at the main desk: Middle Eastern Tomato and Red Onion Salad with Za'atar. Enjoy!
