Dear FCA Teammate,

[THE] Huddle: for women (TH4W) celebrates female coaches, athletes, coaches’ wives, and FCA moms while equipping women called to ministry leadership to serve right where God has placed them.

As a team of FCA female staff, we create digital content rooted in FCA’s researched themes and develop Bible studies designed specifically for teams—many of which you can find at www.thehuddleforwomen.org under the resources tab.

I am excited to share a brand-new study! As Sarah Roberts entered her 20th season as chaplain for the University of Oklahoma softball team, following four consecutive national championships, she encountered a new group of players struggling to live up to a powerful legacy. In that moment, God revealed a profound truth through Scripture: many of those who made the greatest impact were never named, because it was their faith, not their fame, that mattered. This truth shaped their season and now forms the foundation of Sarah’s new study and video series, Nameless, a powerful reminder that God sees and uses ordinary people in extraordinary ways. You can purchase it here: Nameless. You can also access the video series on the free FCA resources platform, resources.fca.org. You can watch the videos here: Nameless.

Thank you for praying and partnering with every one of us!

Together, WE are impacting lives for Jesus!

You are deeply loved and appreciated!

"Mission Field: Home" by Lisa Batt

Ready:

“A house is built by wisdom,

and it is established by understanding;

by knowledge the rooms are filled

with precious and beautiful treasures.”

- Proverbs 24:3-4

Set:

As a young wife and mom who was also teaching, coaching, and leading an FCA Huddle, one of the best tidbits of wisdom given to me was a reminder that “your first mission field is in your home.” So often when we are ministering to athletes, we feel as if our most important job is to give all our time and energy to showing them who God is and building a relationship with them. And yes, that is important; it is our calling as coaches. But God has called us to first live out our faith at home. If we are wives and/or mothers, we should be building a foundation that glorifies God so that our husband and children can go out and be disciples for Christ, giving God glory in all they do.

So how, amid the chaos and busyness of life, do we give God glory in our homes? I believe it starts at the beginning of Proverbs. The author writes, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge...” (Proverbs 1:7). To have a home that is filled with joy and glorifying God, we must first fear the Lord. This fear is a reverence, an understanding of who God is and what He has done.

When we are studying Scripture and spending time with God in prayer, we learn to know Him, and His wisdom will flow through all we do in our home. Having a fear of the Lord causes us to be in constant communication with our Creator. When we are living in a constant state of prayer, our outlook changes. We go from chaotic frustration and even selfishness to glorifying God, even in the chaos and craziness of life.

The second-best piece of wisdom I received as a young mom and wife was that whenever I was walking around the house picking up after my family, instead of being angry at all the things left out, pray over that family member. So, when I put my husband’s clothes in the hamper, instead of frustration for why they were left on the floor, I pray for his day and for his witness at work. When I pick up my children’s Lego that I step on, instead of yelling, I pray for their walk with Christ and how I can teach them responsibility and obedience. Prayer changes my outlook on the crazy life of our home. I get to live out what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 10:31, “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.”

Go:

  • Do you have a healthy reverence for who God is and what He has done? If not, how can you build this into your life?

  • How can you pray for your spouse and children throughout the day?

  • In what ways can you give God glory for your wonderful and crazy life?

Workout:

  • 1 Corinthians 10:31
  • Proverbs 1:7
  • Colossians 3:23

Overtime:

“Lord, today help me to live in the wisdom of Your holiness by learning to know who You are. Give me time to spend in Your Word so that I may grow in knowledge. Lord, help me to give You the glory for all that goes on in my home. Allow me to grow my own faith so that I may pour into my family so that this home is built on a foundation of You. Today, Lord, let my words, attitude, and actions glorify You. Amen.”

Takeaway Truth:

Prayer can change my perspective when I do all things for him.
