The Illinois Emergency Management Agency's (IEMA) preparedness theme for April is Youth Preparedness. According to IEMA Director Alicia Tate-Nadeau, “studies have shown, children are positive influencers in their households. Children can effectively bring the message of preparedness home to their families. The Illinois School and Campus Safety Program is pleased to announce that a session of the "Digital Threat Assessment" training through Safer Schools Together will be held on May 10, 2021, via Zoom. The Illinois School and Campus Safety Program, in collaboration with the Readiness and Emergency Management For Schools (REMS) Technical Assistance (TA) Center, is pleased to announce a session of the Developing Emergency Operations Plans K-12 Train-the-Trainer class will be held May 13th from 9:00 am to noon, via Zoom. This training is for potential master trainers from K-12 schools and districts responsible for training site-based planning teams interested in creating, revising, or enhancing school EOPs; school staff who serve, or will serve, on their school or school district’s EOP planning team; and other interested community stakeholders, including first responders, emergency medical services personnel, law enforcement, and others.
