"First Responders to the Resurrection
"
The Rev. Dr. Victoria Weinstein
Easter Sunday, April 21 | 10am
|
The first followers of Jesus to experience his resurrection were the women who went to prepare Jesus’ body for burial. If we aren’t willing to stay present to the pain and deep reality, we may remain comfortable but we will miss the miracles.

|
Just a reminder . . .
The annual church retreat is a time to connect with fellow congregants, friends and family in a safe and low pressure environment. Some people choose to catch up on lounging and reflecting, others play games, sing, or maybe take on some embodied spiritual activity. Programs are offered for those wanting a little more structure (just a little). See you there at this very special place!

Final Church Sanctuary Q & A
|
On Sunday, April 28th from 11:15am-12:00pm, members of the Lynn UU Partnership team will be in the Fellowship Room to answer any remaining questions about Sanctuary ahead of the vote on May 5th.
This will be the final opportunity to ask questions or provide comments in an open setting as the May 5th special congregational meeting will not include a time for discussion.
Contact members of the LUUP, Board of Trustees, or Rev Vicki with questions.

Save the Date!
UUCGL Special Congregational Meeting
to Vote on Sanctuary, May 5, 2019
|
On May 5, immediately after the service, all members of the UUCGL will have the opportunity to vote. A notice announcing this vote has been mailed to church members, and reads as follows . . .
Members of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lynn, you are being asked to cast a Yes or No vote on the following question:
Do you support the church building being used as a physical sanctuary for a person or persons at risk of deportation?
A Yes vote will allow the UUCGL leadership and members to more fully explore the issue with other congregations. It does not commit UUCGL to providing sanctuary if further steps determine the plan to be unsustainable or impossible due to unforeseen issues. The Board of Trustees recommends a Yes vote.
A No vote will stop the efforts to explore using our building as a physical sanctuary.
If you have questions about UUCGL becoming a sanctuary congregation, please speak with Rev. Weinstein, the Board of Trustees, or members of the Lynn UU Partnership team. LUUP will hold a final Q & A session on April 28th.

St. Stephen's Food Pantry Update
|
Ever wonder where the non-perishable food you placed in the baskets at church goes?
This food is collected, checked for expiration dates, and taken to the Food Pantry housed in St. Stephen’s Church in Lynn. This pantry began 24 years ago as a simple idea of meeting the needs of food insecurity in the community. It continues as a ministry that provides nutritious food as well as books and Christmas gifts for children. Last year, the pantry served 2474 households comprised of 2455 children, 956 seniors, and 1763 adults. The pantry remained open this winter through extensive renovations and now has increased capacity for food. The food pantry suggests the following donations as they are most in need: assorted individual fruit cups, snack bars, single serving cereals (including oatmeal), small canned meats, stews, chilis, soups, tuna fish, individual juice drinks, and reusable cloth/heavy shopping bags.
Please be generous. These are items that the pantry cannot get at reduced cost from the Boston Food Bank. And please check the expiration date!
Many thanks! -Suzanne Forgione for Social Justice Ministry Team
