Early in-person voting starts Friday, March 6. Register to vote and create a voting plan for the upcoming April 21, 2026 Special Election! Any voter registered in Albemarle County may vote early in person in Conference Room B at the County Office Building on 5th Street. There will be directional signage and volunteers to direct voters where to park for early voting.*
Early Voting runs from Friday, March 6 – Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 8:30 am – 5 pm, Monday - Friday. The Voter Registration Office at 5th Street will also be open Saturday, April 11 and April 18, from 8:30 am - 5 pm. Election Day is Tuesday, April 21, 2026. All precinct polling places will operate from 6 am to 7 pm.
There are three different options to cast your vote in this election. You can vote by mail, early-in person, or at your polling place on Election Day. Register by Tuesday, April 14, 2026. Be sure to check on your voter status. You can use Same Day Registration to cast a provisional ballot in person after April 14 if you're eligible to register to vote. Registered voters can opt to cast their ballot by mail for the upcoming election. To vote by mail ballot, you must apply for an absentee ballot by April 10. You can mail your ballot to the Voter Registration Office at the County Office Building, 1600 5th Street Extended, Charlottesville, VA 22902, or drop it in the drop box at the front entrance to the building. Use the preaddressed envelope sent with your mail-in ballot. Get your mail-in ballot application today.
