It's been a tough week for Ohio and Ross County.
Small businesses and the unemployed have struggled with a relief system that has been strained by an overwhelming number of claims. Schools are closed for the rest of the academic year, which creates childcare and other issues for families. With high school sports canceled for the rest of the spring, a lot of young people who put in hard work for a time to shine are left disappointed. The list goes on and on.
In the middle of this, we've partnered with some friends to unveil a new social media campaign to unify us during this trying time.
The image above is the one we're promoting right now - with the concept that Chillicothe has made some great strides together in the past few years and, even in the middle of a difficult time, we can do it again as long as we stick together.
We're asking locals to share this image to social media with their own stories and adding #WeAreChillicothe to allow us to see the great stories of our amazing small businesses.
You'll note the end of the image we encourage you to "keep supporting local." That's a key element of our effort. We need our small businesses to feel the love of our community. The early returns on our Return to Work survey show 77 percent of those responding lost at least half of their revenue, if not more.
The campaign will continue as we return to work and consumer confidence returns to Ross County.
I can't thank Metropolis Design Studio enough for their hard work on the campaign, and Downtown Chillicothe and Greater Chillicothe and Ross County Economic Development for their partnership to share the campaign to the community.
