Economic Development Newsletter - April 22, 2020
During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Economic Development will be sending more frequent updates by newsletter. We aim to bring you the latest information on programming and policy to help guide your business through this difficult time.
The Prime Minister unveiled programming that will focus specifically on small-and-medium sized businesses. Of interest to businesses in Stony Plain will be the
Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) of 75%, which will be backdated to March 15th, and
Canada Emergency Business Accounts, which will allow for loans of up to $40,000 that will be interest free for 1 year, and of which $10,000 may be forgiven. More detailed information can be found through the
Government of Canada, and the
Canadian Business Resilience Network.
We have been working diligently to compile a list of surveys and program announcements which may available to your business and employees. Please

COVID-19/Oil Price Collapse Business Impact Survey
The Alberta Chambers of Commerce network, EDA, and Community Futures have banded together for an updated business impact survey to help inform government responses to the economic slowdown. The survey closes April 26, so do not delay in having your voice heard. To complete the survey, follow the link below:
Economic Developers Alberta & Chamber FREE Webinars
EDA is offering a free webinar series to connect community leaders every Wednesday at noon. These webinars are focused around mitigating the economic downturn.
The Greater Parkland Regional Chamber of Commerce is also offering a free webinar series, focusing on local issues with expert advice from area professionals.
The Youth Entrepreneurs Training Initiative (YETI) is officially accepting applications! This Community Futures program brings together the best and brightest entrepreneurs from Stony Plain and area. Open to high school students, entrepreneurs will receive seed capital to launch their dream summer job as their own boss. Find out more about this initiative and how to apply on
