Collaboration in Action!

We continue to screen all clients who access the Campus for COVID-19. Our clients are now accustomed to having their temperature taken and answering questions about fever, cough, worsening breath, and travel. Our employees are adapting every day in order to provide the best service that we can to help save lives.

  • As of 10:00 AM April 22, 2020 we are not aware of any HSC clients or employees testing positive for COVID-19.

  • HSC launched THIRST AID this past Saturday. We will do a donation drop off the third Saturday of every month from 9am to noon for the next several months to focus on requests for bottled water: May 16, June 19 and July 18. Financial donations can be made online at https://donorbox.org/hsc. Alternative drop offs can be made by contacting Ivan at [email protected] or 602-282-0849.

  • HSC continues to shelter 47 high-risk, vulnerable adults, many of them elderly, in re-purposed space in the Lodestar Day Resource Center. In order to best support them, we are in need of adult pull-up diapers, especially sizes small and medium.

We thank the community for supporting our work through this time. Stay safe and healthy!
Families Reunited During Pandemic Makes Reunions Extra Special
FAMILY REUNITES
A family came to the Brian Garcia Welcome Center seeking transportation assistance to family in Pennsylvania. HSC staff contacted their family, confirmed they could be housed there with family, and purchased transportation for two adults and three children. They received COVID19 health screenings before leaving with a crisis team who ensured they made it to Greyhound and boarded safely.
FATHER AND DAUGHTER REUNITE
A man came to the Brian Garcia Welcome Center after a week sleeping outside, having recently been laid off and losing his housing. Staff identified he could live with his daughter in Georgia and were able to confirm with her that he could live with her. After coordinating a COVID-19 health screening to ensure he had no symptoms, staff purchased transportation to send him home.
