Hello,
I hope you are doing well and are staying safe and healthy. I want to commend you, and your classmates, on how well you have handled the last few weeks through this most unusual time. As the semester is drawing to a close we are all thinking of you, and you can reach out at any time if there is anything we can do to help.
While Maria College is anxious to have the campus reopened and have us all back together again,
the current order of the Governor extends the shutdown to May 15
. We are planning for the work from home arrangement with staff to be continued through that time, and are keeping a close eye on any changes in the situation for the latter half of May. We will re-examine and communicate the next phase of campus access updates closer to the 15
th
.
With that in mind, I am pleased to acknowledge that a
New York State Restart Higher Education Task Force
has been created to work on best practices and plans for reopening our campuses, and we are following their progress closely. Maria's goal is that as soon as the Governor allows it, and we have best practices for safely reopening in place, we will welcome students, faculty and staff back to campus. We can't wait to see you all again!
Registration for Summer and Fall courses has begun and continues on schedule.
Please don’t forget to register to secure your spot in the summer and fall classes you need to stay on track. Offices such as the Registrar and Financial Aid are fully functioning remotely, and are responsive to student questions and offering assistance.
As the situation is dynamic,
we are planning to start the courses for the first summer session online.
We are hopeful that the situation will offer more flexibility for some in-person or hybrid course schedule meetings as the session progresses based upon guidance from New York State and its regionally-based reopening protocols currently being developed.
