Director of Faith Formation

Cathedral of the Assumption

Full-Time Position


The Cathedral of the Assumption is seeking a faith-filled and dynamic leader to serve as our Director of Faith Formation. This individual will lead and coordinate parish-wide faith formation and catechetical programs, helping parishioners of all ages grow in their understanding of the Catholic faith and deepen their relationship with Christ and the Church.


Working closely with the Rector, parish staff, volunteers, and the Archdiocese of Louisville, this role is essential to advancing the Cathedral’s mission through vibrant catechesis, sacramental preparation, and parish engagement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee faith formation programs for children, youth, and adults
  • Coordinate sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation
  • Oversee the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) program
  • Recruit, train, and support catechists and volunteers
  • Promote parish participation in faith formation and evangelization efforts
  • Ensure programs align with Catholic teaching and Archdiocesan guidelines


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Pastoral Ministry, or related field (required)
  • Catechetical certification or willingness to obtain through the Archdiocese
  • OCIA training or experience preferred
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with a strong commitment to Church teaching
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience in parish ministry, education, or religious formation

  • Position requires evening and weekend availability
