APRIL 2022
April 30 is Adopt a Shelter Pet Day and although saying goodbye to any of our Lanai Lions is sad, it warms our hearts to know they will have a loving family and comfortable home.

All of our cats are welcome to live out their lives at the Sanctuary, but we're happy that 64 Lanai Lions found a furr-ever home last year. It usually goes like this: guests visit our Sanctuary, are chosen by a special cat, fall in love, and start making plans to get the cat home.

Once the adoption is set, the adopters finish their vacation and we take care of the rest! Cats get an exam and any needed procedures are taken care of. They also get a rabies vaccine and we create a rabies certificate and health certificate for their travel. Our manager then takes the cat to Oahu or Maui where the feline catches a flight to her new home and is picked up by her new family.

We do not charge an adoption fee, but we do ask adopters to cover the cost of getting the cat to them. To learn more about adopting a Lanai Lion, click here or email info@lanaicatsanctuary.org.

We like to talk about Bruno
Bruno jumped on many shoulders and captured many hearts before finding his furr-ever home in Seattle with Valerie, Elliott, and new cat brother Thomas.

The little orange kitten was brought to the Sanctuary about three years ago and thanks to the care he received here, he grew up to be a healthy, social cat who loved to charm visitors. Bruno stood out the moment Valerie and Elliott entered the Sanctuary and they grew even more in love with him while looking at all the photos they’d taken at the Sanctuary.
"The process to adopt Bruno was easy,” said Valerie. “And we were also so touched by how much those at the sanctuary clearly loved him."

Bruno is no longer an outdoor cat, but he loves looking at birds through the large windows in his new home. He also loves sunbathing on the couch; begging for treats; and grooming himself, his cat brother, and Elliott’s beard! Thomas is still getting used to having another cat in the house, but Valerie says the two felines are clearly developing a deep bond, and the couple can’t wait to see that companionship grow.

“He has been so affectionate and we are grateful to be able to provide him with a home and shower him with love,” she says.
