teachers emphasized the value of consistent effort and students logged their practice time. Like real Olympians, students faced challenges. Not only the temptation to take days off, but sickness, vacation and broken instruments sometimes prevented them from getting the practice time they desired.
Sixty-eight students in the Gerber Strings Program - from 4 years old to high school, from Beaver Island to Petoskey, from violin to bass - filled out practice charts and turned them in each week so that the leaders could be posted on the website gerberstrings.org.
