Message from President Sara Beacham
|
|
Greetings!
What a weekend! I came into the weekend looking to get my cup filled, and it is overflowing now. Sierra Nevada Region Conference did not disappoint. We will get the full report from the delegates this week. However, I do want to give a special congratulations to Billie Araiza for winning the District 1 Director position on the 2022-2024 SNR Board. She will start her term July 1, 2022. Join me in celebrating the win for our club in district 1. Congratulations!
We can now look forward to the next BIG weekend now that SNR is over. What’s coming up…? Only two major projects – President’s Project (hehe, that’s me!) and Dream It, Be It.
The President’s Project, Advocate for Great, is Friday evening. The doors open at 5:30 pm. Please help us spread the word. I would like to reach as many 20- something women as we can. Catherine Calarco is our keynote speaker. She is a SI Chico scholarship winner, worldwide leader and speaker, and vice president. We also have a Mentor Panel of local female leaders answering several questions. Dinner will be provided by Bacio Catering.
The following day is SIA’s signature program, Dream It, Be It. We have 37 high school girls signed up for the first-ever 1-day conference. We have worked closely with SI Bidwell Rancho to bring this to life, and I appreciate all the support from the DIBI committees from both clubs. We are buttoning up all the details at our last meeting on Monday (which happens prior to me writing this message and after you read this message). You can still help out by signing up to volunteer. We could definitely use the help and support.
That’s it for now. See you Wednesday!
President Sara

Thank you to all that volunteered at the Home & Garden Show last weekend. We had quite a wind storm on Saturday that blew everything down, except for our tent. Then the crew on Sunday putting it all back together. I will give a recap on Wednesday.

April Fur Baby and Member of the Month - Ollie & Janet Earl
I got my Ollie the day before Christmas. Wags n’ Whiskers was having an adoption fair in the parking lot by their store. Ollie was the only one not barking, had Corgi ears and Dachshund body and looked at me with sweet eyes. He was rescued in Stanislaus County. Wasn’t intending to get a dog (famous last words). He has been my walking partner in Bidwell Park - every day! He is 16 years old and in great shape.
I have been a member of SI Chico for 18 years; La Donna Joyner was my sponsor. I love the mission of Soroptimist and have enjoyed being with strong women who are full of positive energy. I have met lifelong friends. I’m truly blessed to be a Soroptimist.
