On October 1st, 2021, Disney launched a multi-million dollar evening entertainment spectacular at EPCOT called "Harmonious". It featured five giant floating barges with huge LED video screens, spraying water, lasers, moving "arms" and of course fireworks. It was both a hit and a miss. It really was a good, expensive-looking show which lasted about 20 minutes. The problem was the other 23 hours and 40 minutes when the giant black barges sat in the middle of World Showcase Lagoon, looking like abandoned spaceships. Not really a tranquil look in the otherwise beautiful waterscape. So a couple nights ago was their finale and we went over and enjoyed the final show. (A new evening show is in the works according to Disney.)

Things change, and change can be good.

I am coming up on eleven years of hosting and producing "In The Studio With MJ". There have been a lot of changes over the years. The show grew from me holding a box of tapes to having multiple computers, mixers and powerful presentation software. New segments are brought in and others slide into the waiting room for a while, but a few things stay constant: The music and the community of guests.

When we launched our first event in Paris in the summer of 2012, I had no idea the people I would meet, the stories I would hear and the friendships I would thankfully be a part of over the next decade plus.

Yes, ITSWMJ is making some changes, but I think you are going to love them! I look forward to seeing you soon - In The Studio With MJ!

Next Stop: Atlanta!

Atlanta has the busiest airport the world and some of the best food in the world, including the largest drive-in restaurant The Varsity. 57% of Georgians live in the greater Atlanta area, boasting 6.2 millions residents!

I love visiting Atlanta, and we will be in a new venue, the Atlanta Theater, on April 28th and 29th! It's a very cool and comfortable venue with a giant video screen and a pounding sound-system! I'll be introducing some new segments and mixes, but also keeping some of my favorites.

Tell your friends! Tell your neighbors! Tell your cousin who you haven't talked to since a year ago Christmas!

Did you know that in April 1983 the song "Beat It" landed at number 1 on the Billboard charts, and stayed on the top 100 charts for 14 weeks! My friend Matt Forger was one of the engineers for the song, and he was in the studio with Eddie Van Halen recorded his iconic solo. Eddie played the solo a few times with several variations, and eventually Matt edited the first half from one take and the 2nd half from another, and the rest is history!
