A Message from the Principal of Academics: |
Celebrating Curiosity, Creativity, and Courage at Carondelet
This season at Carondelet has been a vibrant celebration of curiosity, creativity, and courage. From science labs to center stage, our students have been pushing boundaries and earning well-deserved recognition. We celebrate things in a variety of ways and you may have caught some of these things on social media, but I wanted to bring it all together and share the success and foreshadow opportunities to see the magic for yourselves and support our students in the process. So, take out your calendars because here's a glimpse of how our student’s hard work and passion is paying off—and what’s coming up next.
Theatre Students Advanced to International Stage
Sixteen student performers represented Carondelet and De La Salle at the California State Thespian Festival, earning top honors and advancing to the International Thespian Festival this summer. Their powerful performances—from musical solos to original short films—reflect a deep well of talent and collaboration. You can catch the magic live as our Company theatre group presents Hadestown, running April 10 to 13 and April 24 to 26.
Winton Arts Show - April 10
Come experience the beauty and depth of our student artists’ work at the Winton Arts Show, happening Thursday, April 10 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM in the LAPC lobby at De La Salle. This one-evening-only exhibit is filled with bold, visual storytelling.
Choir Shines at National Festival
Our Combined and Chamber Choirs brought home Gold ratings from the WorldStrides Heritage Festival in Anaheim, with the Combined Choir earning first place in their division! Their performances dazzled the judges and brought a wave of joy and pride back to campus.
Scientific Research Students Excel at County Fair
Our Scientific Research students presented original, competition-level projects at the Contra Costa County Science & Engineering Fair, earning awards across multiple disciplines. These young scientists spent the year designing, testing, and refining their work—and it showed.
STEAM Evening - May 9 | A Celebration of Discovery, Creativity, and The Power of Her
On Friday, May 9, Carondelet will host its first-ever STEAM Evening, a vibrant, faculty-led event uniting our Scientific Research Symposium, and the Spring Choir Concert under this year’s theme: The Power of Her. (Yes, there will be an opportunity to learn more about the major project for a movement studio and training spaces in case you have not seen the designs.)
This inspiring evening begins at 4:30 PM in the Jean Hofmann Center for Innovation with student research presentations, followed by interactive STEAM activities, some refreshments, and a live (and free!) Spring Choir performance at 7:00 PM.
We warmly invite all families to attend—your presence helps build a culture that recognizes and champions the many ways she leads, creates, and transforms.

Supporting Student Responsibility for Make-Up Testing
We want to ensure that all students have fair access to make-up testing opportunities. Unfortunately, we’ve noticed a pattern of students reserving make-up test slots but not showing up, which prevents others from being able to schedule their tests.
To address this, we are reinforcing our policy: When students sign up for a make-up test, they are committing to that time. If they can no longer attend, they must provide at least 24 hours' notice so the spot can be made available to another student. Failure to do so may impact their ability to schedule future make-up tests.
We appreciate your support in encouraging students to take responsibility for their appointments and helping us maintain a fair and accessible system for all.

Don't Miss the Winton Arts Show!
Please join us for our annual Winton Arts Show on Thursday, April 10 at 6:00 PM, in the lobby of the LAPC on De La Salle's campus!
In Monica Sakkis’s AP 2D Art class, students conducted a year-long, in-depth, sustained investigation on a topic of their choice. After an extensive process of exploring artistic techniques, experimenting with media, and engaging in the process of revision, AP and 2D students are preparing their artistic work for presentation! We are so excited to partner with DLS to showcase this unique body of student work.
The reception for the Arts Show begins at 6:00 PM and coincides with opening night for the CHS/DLS Company performance of Hadestown: Teen Edition. Purchase tickets for Hadestown here. Thank you for your support of the Arts on Winton Drive!

| | | New Items at the School Store! | |
We’ve shared plans with the extended Carondelet community and now look forward to strong partnership and investment in this important project. The sooner we fund this campaign, the sooner our students will be in their new space, using it to maximize their promise and potential every day. This project is five months—start to finish—so if we fundraise fast we can break ground this spring and be ready to welcome students to the Boscacci Performance Center as they start school in the Fall.
The Power of Her takes the Power of Us… please reach out to your development team to continue the conversation, share ideas, and explore giving opportunities.
Thank you for using your power to empower her!
