Death Shall Be No More
We shared last week that in the sure and certain hope of the resurrection
Connie Koiner, Ethan Polasky, and Diane Lawson reached the end of their earthly lives.
We will continue to update you on their arrangements as we receive them.

-Connie Koiner passed away on March 29, 2022 surrounded by her family. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 30th beginning at 1pm. The service will be followed by a family attended Committal Ceremony and a reception in which all are welcome. If you are interested in setting/cleaning up or providing refreshments for Connie's funeral reception, please reach out to Danielle in the church office who will then communicate further details with those that are interested in volunteering.
-Ethan Polasky passed away during the evening of March 29, 2022. There are no updates on his arrangements to communicate at this time.
+Rest eternal grant them, O Lord, and light perpetual shine on them+
2022 Synod Gathering
June 2-4, 2022 @ Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, NC
You are invited to join other members of the North Carolina Synod for the first ever Synod Gathering. This event will have time for learning, worship, and fellowship with other Lutherans from all over the state.
There are two ways to attend:
  1. Attend with St. Mark's - Pastor Matt will be driving our newly borrowed 12 passenger van to Hickory to attend the Gathering on Thursday. If you would like to attend that day and travel with Pastor Matt, please email Deacon Katie and she will register you for the event. St. Mark's will cover your meals and day registration.
  2. Attend on your own - You are welcome to attend additional days of the Synod Gathering, and stay overnight at LR. For this option, please follow this link to register yourself for the event.

Racial Healing Team
The North Carolina Synod office is located on the original and ancestral homelands of the Keyauwee people, and we give thanks for their presence here since time immemorial. We also wish to recognize and honor all our indigenous siblings who have called and continue to call this land their home.
We are following the list of topics suggested by native leaders in the ELCA to continue our learning together. In April we explore the UN Rights of a Child and ask ourselves, "How were children made even more vulnerable in boarding schools?" To read more about these topics follow this link.
St. Mark's Circle of Welcome, April Calendar Change
When Cindy sent out the volunteer calendar, she assumed that the ESL classes at AB tech would be on the same schedule as AB tech. It turns out their spring break is not following AB tech, but the Buncombe County Public Schools. Therefore, the calendar has changed. We are now needing drivers for the week of April 18 - 22. We are no longer in need of childcare during the month of April. To find the updated calendar, follow this link. If you need help gaining access, please contact Cindy Lauster at 317.435.8405 or cynthialauster@gmail.com.
