St. Rita School inspires students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade eight to achieve academic excellence in a safe, nurturing and faith-filled Catholic environment.
We prepare students to be morally responsible, innovative thinkers who, in today’s technology-guided global community, live and share the Love of Christ.

Dear St. Rita School Parents,

I cannot believe that we have been out of the St. Rita School building for four weeks. Who would have thought we would be spending Holy Week apart from our students? This week is such a solemn and significant week in the Catholic Church. Tomorrow is Holy Wednesday (aka Spy Wednesday), followed by Holy Thursday (aka Maundy Thursday), and Good Friday. The Easter Vigil is on Saturday, followed by the glorious Resurrection of our Lord on Sunday. Please take some time during this week to pray and share as a family all the events of this sacred week. Visit   www.holyweek.org or https://catholicedaohct.org/resources/celebrating-holy-week-at-home if you are looking for resources.

Please remember that we will not be in session this Friday, April 10 as we observe Good Friday. Spring break will be taken next week, April 13-17. Please follow this link for a daily calendar of virtual field trips you can take over the next few weeks with your family: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qpFAQz_QJt0ZTVTixAyuGRjsKGYI23CjlaO9eLBkThE/mobilebasic

On Monday, April 20, we will resume on-line classes with expanded hours for all grade levels. Middle school (grades 6-8) will be on-line for 4 hours a day (9:00-11:00 and 12:00-2:00), grades 4 & 5 will be on-line 3 hours a day from 9-11 and 12-1, and Kindergarten through grade 3 will be on-line 3 hours a day (9:00-12:00). PreK will have an additional session added to their schedule. We will continue to follow the direction of the state and local authorities regarding when school will re-open. Thank you for your continued support of our remote learning endeavor.

Re-enrollment paperwork can be mailed to the school office for processing. If you are having trouble getting your paperwork signed by your Pastor, request that he send Msgr. Joe or Mrs. Nugent an email verifying your parishioner status. The Smart Financial Aid portal will open on May 1. In order to apply for financial aid your Smart tuition account must be current and you must have already submitted your re-enrollment paperwork and fee. Financial aid will be distributed on a first come, first served basis until the money is depleted. If you have not yet re-enrolled for next year, please do so in April so you don’t miss out on the opportunity to apply for financial assistance. If you are having financial difficulty due to current circumstances please contact our school business manager, Paula Nugent at paulanugent@att.net as soon as possible for guidance.

On behalf of Msgr. Joe, our teachers, staff, and my fellow administrators, may God bless you and your family and bring you His peace during this time. Happy Easter everyone!

God Bless,
Mrs. Tiezzi

Since we are not able to present Living Stations of the Cross for the parish and school, an alternative depicting each station with Legos and using our Meditation and Prayer Book will be available online on
Good Friday morning. Click below to download the Meditation
booklet (there will also be a link in the Youtube description) which
has been enlarged so children can also color each station as they pray.

More information will be shared as soon as it is available. In the meantime, we are missing our St. Rita School community, and we are sending prayers for strength and patience as we all work through this unprecedented time.

Does Your Company Offer Volunteer Grants?
Volunteer grant programs, also known as “Dollars for Doers” programs, are corporate giving programs created to encourage volunteerism in communities where employees live and work.
Through these programs, companies provide monetary grants to organizations where employees volunteer regularly.

Please take a moment and ask if your employer participates in a Volunteer Grants Program. Your time and talent at St. Rita School could turn into dollars for our school! Questions? Feel free to contact Joanne Bruno at  jbruno.stritaschool@gmail.com .
