Fearless Faith Revival Updates

Fearless Faith: A Creation Care Pilgrimage to

St. Martin's, Davis

Sunday, April 21 | 4:00 pm | St. Martin's, Davis

Come enjoy a wonderful celebration of Earth Day and the ways that our faith can help us deepen our care for Creation. On April 21 at 4pm, the St. Martin’s Sanctuary Choir will present “The World Beloved: A Bluegrass Mass” in a concert to celebrate Earth Day. Admission is free. The concert pairs “The World Beloved” with readings from “Bucolics,” a psalm-like collection of poetry by Maurice Manning, written in the voice of a southern sharecropper.

Composer Carol Barnett describes her 2007 work as “combining sacred classical choral tradition with the sparkling down home sound of a bluegrass band.” Poet Marisha Chamberlain has provided a text that honors the liturgy while presenting an unpretentious, earthy philosophy in which God dwells right here among us, expressing love through creation.

St. Paul’s Church

Saturday, April 13 | 9:00 am - 12:30 pm | St. Paul’s, Sacramento

Spend a morning at St. Paul’s Church in Sacramento delving into the history of the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California’s first congregation through the Sacred Ground lens of race and faith.

Who first claimed the land the church was founded on? How did redevelopment and other policies affect communities of color in the neighborhoods around St. Paul’s? How has the cycle of life – birth, growth, death, rebirth – informed its outlook today? What is to be learned? Lamented? Celebrated? Explore these questions and more with Bishop Megan Traquair, the Rev. Rik Rasmussen and Preservation Sacramento’s Bill Burg, among others.

Cost is $10. Seating is limited and registration is required by April 11.

Church of Our Saviour, Placerville Presents The Chosen Series

Beginning Sunday the evening of April 14, at 4:30 pm, we will start a seven-week class to explore the question, “Who is Jesus?” We will watch episodes from the video series The Chosen. Each episode of The Chosen chronicles the ministry of Jesus Christ as he preaches, gathers disciples, and cures the sick. The entire series follows several New Testament narratives closely but fills in back stories for those around Jesus. Jesus is shown in a very relatable way, often expressing joy. After each video we will discuss what we have seen and share our responses. Each session will last 90 minutes. This class is open to anyone who would like to explore more about the life and ministry of Jesus and is free to attend.
