MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

President's Message

This spring, we're leaning into what makes BOMA/GLA so valuable—the exchange of information, the power of connection, and the strength of our community.

Across our six regions, members are gathering for meaningful conversations through roundtables that now take on new forms—lunches, happy hours, building tours, and more. These events are created by your Regional Councils to reflect what matters most in your area. If you're not yet involved, this is a great time to join your council and help shape what’s next. We currently serve the following regions: Downtown, Hollywood/Wilshire, Long Beach/South Bay, Northeast, San Fernando Valley, and Westside.

To see what’s happening in your region, check out our Events Calendar.

A quick reminder that our Regional Power Hours are still going strong. These one-hour webinars are a great way to hear what’s going on around the industry, from legislation and operations to workplace trends, all without taking up too much of your day.

Also, keep an eye out for our Policy Briefings—your inside look at the vital work of our Codes and Regulations, Sustainability, and Security and Emergency Preparedness Committees. These members are tackling real issues that affect how you operate every day.

And don’t forget—on April 30, we’re hosting our Discover Careers in Commercial Real Estate fair. Help us introduce the next generation to the dynamic world of property management. Click here for event details and registration.

Thank you for being an essential part of BOMA/GLA. Let’s keep sharing knowledge, showing up, and moving the industry forward—together.

~ Michele Ware

What's Happening in Advocacy

Policy Committees in Action

This month, our committees tackled timely topics shaping the industry:

The Security & Emergency Preparedness Committee highlighted the importance of collaboration among security, engineering, and property management teams—encouraging joint training and shared checklists for emergency response.

The Codes & Regulations Committee explored streamlining permits in Santa Monica and opportunities to convert office spaces into hospitality use.

The Property Technology Committee heard from Ocra’s CEO on how their platform improves parking operations, boosts revenue, and enhances asset management.

We wrapped up with the Sustainability Committee, which shared best practices for waste reduction, recycling, and composting—along with strategies for using normalized data to track performance and improve certification scores.

Together, these conversations help shape smarter policies and stronger outcomes for our industry.
