April Beekeeping Tips
In and Around the Hive
On these cold days we keep having..... the bees will still be clustered, but when we get a warm day, they should be bringing in lots of pollen and nectar. If their flights are limited by the cold or bad weather, watch for starvation.
Equipment
Your equipment should be paint, cleaned, fixed assembled or purchased by now. Remove any insulation wraps, mouse guards etc.
Nutrition
The location/proximity of the bees to their food source is important. If your cluster is far to one side of the food stores, you can carefully move it closer, keeping it together as you do so.
You may consider feeding pollen substitute or pro-sweet to support or further stimulate egg laying.
