PLANNING PHASE

Hibbard Park OSLAD Project - Bids

The Park District is preparing to open and announce bid proposal documents for the Hibbard Park improvements funded by the IDNR OSLAD grant. Staff anticipate recommending contract awards at the May Board meeting. Improvements include updated athletic fields, enhanced playground spaces, and additional park amenities.

EXECUTION PHASE

Gillson Park Infrastructure Project

Gillson Park Phase 3: The final phase of the project has begun. The entrance to the park off Sheridan Rd. and the entirety of Middle Dr. are under construction. Signage in the park has also been updated to adjust for traffic flow.

EXECUTION PHASE

Solar Panel Project at CRC

Community Recreation Center's solar panel installation project is progressing. Panels and final commissioning is expected in the coming weeks. This project is a major step in the District’s commitment to renewable energy and sustainability.

U P D A T E S

CONSOLIDATED ELECTION - The Consolidated Election was held Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Wilmette Park District had three Park Commissioner offices (4-year term) open. Board Members Kara Kosloskus, Patrick Duffy and Alison Frazier were all re-elected to their roles through 2029.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SEARCH - Wilmette Park District Board of Park Commissioners is pleased to share an exciting update on our national search for the next Executive Director. The search firm (MGT) is actively reviewing a strong and diverse pool of over 50 highly qualified applicants from across the country.

SUSTAINABILITY - The Board approved a 20-year subscription agreement with SunCentral LLC to participate in a community solar project. This subscription will save the District an estimated $20,000 annually while supporting clean energy use.

FINANCE - The District remains fiscally strong, with 2025 capital planning moving forward efficiently and responsibly. Q1 2025 Financial Report confirms revenue is trending positively, particularly in program revenue and membership growth.

MISCELLANEOUS -

Mobile Sauna Pilot Program

The District has entered into an agreement to host a mobile sauna at Gillson Park. Community members will soon be able to experience this unique, seasonal amenity.

Canal Shores Lease Amendment

An amendment to the District’s lease agreement with Canal Shores Golf Course was discussed and is in process. This change supports programming collaboration and the sale of alcohol at the halfway house (located in Wilmette).

Monday, May 12 - at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Village Hall at 1200 Wilmette Avenue. The Annual Meeting will be held immediately prior to the Regular Board Meeting.

COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE (COW) MEETING:

Monday, May 19 - at 6:30 p.m. at Mallinckrodt Center, 1041A Ridge Road (side entrance) Special Board Meeting - 5:00 p.m. to discuss Executive Director candidates. This is a closed session.

FINANCE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING:

Monday, May 12 - at 6:30 p.m. in the Village Hall Training Room at 1200 Wilmette Avenue.
