Every Sign Has A Story

As Colorado natives, Nick and Sharyce Herman founded Mountain Fly Shop with a simple mission: make fly fishing more welcoming and accessible to everyone. After founding and later selling two previous fly fishing businesses, the Hermans saw firsthand that many people are interested in the sport but do not feel invited in. Too often, that comes down to fly shop culture. In some places, customers are talked down to or made to feel like they have to prove themselves before they deserve help.

Fly fishing can also feel intimidating at first because it involves a unique set of skills and a learning curve. To help lower those barriers, Mountain Fly Shop offers free education every month, including one free fly fishing class and one free fly tying class. The classes are designed to be approachable for beginners, with families encouraged to attend.

The community focus extends beyond classes. The shop also hosts events and partners with local groups, including a recent Women’s Night event with the CSU Fly Fishing Club.

Guided trips are offered throughout Colorado and beyond, including destination travel. Nick Herman notes that the shop continues to expand the range of waters and experiences available each year as opportunities and permits allow.

The Hermans have one son, and they hope to pass along fly fishing as a family activity that connects generations while also welcoming new anglers into the sport.

Mountain Fly Shop is the top rated fly shop in Northern Colorado.

Mountain Fly Shop is in Old Town Fort Collins at 105 W. Mountain Avenue. For class information, visit in-store, online or email info@mountainflyshop.com. The shop’s phone number is 970.227.5643 and the website is https://mountainflyshop.com

Recent Work

Mounted on a stone wall, this custom fabricated aluminum sign for The Nest at Canyon Creek at 1031 Mourning Dove in Erie has push-through acrylic letters with digital film overlay. The routed logo is backed with white acrylic and overlayed with digital film as well. The sign is LED illuminated. End caps have artful routing that is painted to specification with peek through white acrylic. The original design firm is Henry Design Group of Denver. We think it’s a piece of art! DaVinci has specialized in residential development signage since our inception in 2004. This sign was featured in Sign Builder Illustrated's February 2026 issue, and the article download can be accessed here (see image of article above).

Canvas Credit Union’s distinct orange branding carries through in this ATM signage installed at 201 North Weber Street in Colorado Springs. Every detail is carried through for the functionality of the ATM, the DaVinci well-known brass placard, and the final product. Thank you, Canvas Credit Union, for your business!

An exciting new location for G.O.A.T. Sports Bar at 6465 Crossroads Blvd. in Windsor! Check out their menu at thegoatsportsbar.com. Shown are 5000K white LED halo-illuminated aluminum sign cabinets. Two logo sign cabinets are 6’ deep with illuminated square tube frames with aluminum returns painted to specifications. Faces are aluminum with graphics routed and backed with white acrylic. Translucent digital prints are applied to acrylic. G.O.A.T. head logo is 5” deep produced similarly with graphic overlay and halo lit.

New channel letters and a monument sign for Elevations Credit Union at 300 McCaslin in Louisville. The monument sign features a custom fabricated tube frame and routed faces with push-through acrylic letters and logo. The faces are overlayed with translucent films. GE Tetra 24-volt variable power illumination is provided to a white LED grid.

New blade signs, wall sign, walk-up window graphics, and printed window graphics (not shown) create a sharp branding package for High Desert Chocolate at 430 Main Street in Windsor.  The blade signs are composed of aluminum sign panels attached front and back to the frame.  A contrast color surrounds the signs and is painted to specifications, with film graphics and letter accents. Flat cut acrylic lettering is painted and then mounted flush to cabinet.  The wall sign panel is cut to shape with seams welded and ground smooth, and painted the matching signature shade, then mounted flush to wall.  Flat cut acrylic lettering and dot accents were painted white and mounted flush to wall sign face.

Adding interest to your development is always welcome and enhances the intrinsic value of your public spaces. Here are information signs for Parkvue On The Platte by Toll Brothers at Mineral and Santa Fe in Littleton – high pressure laminate faces flush mounted to powder coated aluminum backer panels. Frames are custom fabricated angles with 2” x 4” aluminum tubes using the same powder coated finish, with welded top caps. Pipes are set in concrete caissons.

We love the special look that Revere in Johnstown has—nice job DaVinci Tribe! Wood fencing from pressure treated cedar graces the sign, with a tower column faced in stone veneer and with a tower light box with decorative crisscross feature. Sign wall is faced in stone veneer. 8” deep aluminum cabinet faced with aluminum sheeting, mounted to a Glulam Beam with ¼” metal straps. Acrylic primary letters are painted black and stud mounted flush to cabinet. Illumination is with 3” halo-lit RPCs. R and star branding logos are dual-lit routed and backed reverse-pan with 6500K LEDs with dimmers.

Small town charm and modern convenience merge together at Muegge Farms, located at 45056 Sunflower Lane in Bennett. This monument sign features halo illuminated reverse channel letters with a paint finish. 5000K white LEDs are used power supply is GE Tetra LED. The vertical battons that are the featured element are made of alumination extruded tubes with woodgrain finish and top caps. The sign base is a CMU block core with a standard grey concrete veneer. The base logo is halo-illuminated reverse channel logo cabinet with paint finish. The monument is set on a 34’ long 3’ deep concrete footing, reinforced with a rebar cage.

This one turned out so perfect! The new illuminated cross for Traverse Christian Church at 1010 Automation Drive in Windsor is constructed of 8” deep aluminum and then painted faux cedar to match the nearby canopy. Illuminated with RGB LEDs to achieve matching green branding color. The 1/8” aluminum backer panel accent is painted ‘brand’ green and mounted flush to the wall.

The Meadows at Tuff Village, 5975 Karst Heights, in Colorado Springs, has one of our favorite sign types – a post and beam type monument sign! This post and beam effect is made of steel tubes with faux painted wood finish, and steel top caps painted black. The 2” deep fabricated aluminum cabinet is painted a signature color, and then ¼” thick flat cut aluminum letters were blind stud mounted flush to panel. Above grad concrete footers house faux stone block bases. For lighting, a Solera 4000k solar led light fixture finishes off the sign in an environmentally conscious way!
