Chamber Endorses Bruce Porter in Third District County Supervisor Race
The Goleta Valley Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce their endorsement of Bruce Porter for Third District County Supervisor.

The Chamber's board of directors voted to endorse Porter based on how his positions aligned with the Chamber's policy platform. Bruce has a strong position on economic development and ideas on how a private/public partnership focused on innovation can be beneficial for our entire county.

"The Chamber Board looked at each candidate's platforms and priorities before making this endorsement," said Kristen Miller, President & CEO of the Goleta Chamber of Commerce. "Porter's positions on economic development and workforce housing are most aligned with the business community."

Annual Membership Survey Coming in May
Chamber Members will be receiving an invitation to participate in our 2016 Membership Survey in May.  The survey is conducted through the Western Association of Chamber Executives (WACE) and helps measure the Chamber's performance in comparison to all Chambers in the West. 

We encourage all of our members to participate in the survey. 
Responses are confidential, but e ach participant will be eligible to win prizes in a drawing following the survey.

Workplace Safety Discussed at April Issue and Policy Roundtable
Attendees at April IPR tackled tough issues relating to workplace safety. Community Resource Deputy, Dave Valdez, talked to the group about the Active Shooter Training he offers for local businesses. He stressed the importance of being proactive to ensure workplace safety.

Representatives from Montecito Bank and Trust discussed Cyber Safety and offered tips on how to protect yourself from hackers.

EF International Participates in Massive City and Coastal Cleanup on Earth Day
 
EF International Language School, Heal the Ocean and Looking Good Santa Barbara partnered in a massive cleanup of both the downtown area and Santa Barbara South County beaches on Earth Day 2016. Funding for the beach cleanup equipment was provided through Heal the Ocean from the Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation, founded by Kim and Jack Johnson to support environmental, art, and music education.
 
The Goodland Hotel Launches First VNYL Record Shop in Lobby
 
The Goodland Hotel has partnered with LA-based VNYL, a music discovery subscription service, to create a vinyl record shop on the property. Not only is this initiative a first for Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, but it is also VNYL's first record shop inside of a hotel. The space features doz-ens of titles that can be enjoyed during one's stay and purchased for the road, as well as listen-ing stations powered by SONOS and VNYL's connected turntable line, TRNTBL, that allows for listeners around the world to see what's spinning at The Goodland.
