Jonny D. Wallis Neighborhood Park Opens in Old Town Goleta

On Saturday March 30th the Chamber's Michele Schneider and our ambassador team staffed a booth to celebrate the opening of the new park in Old Town Goleta.
The four-acre site at 170 S. Kellogg Ave. features a handball court, concrete ping-pong table, bocce ball court, pickleball court, pedestrian and bicycle paths, exercise equipment, a piñ
ata holder,
a restroom building and playground area. The park also includes a unique concrete skate park plaza. Powell Peralta donated 200 skateboards for children and, the Cottage Hospital Trauma Center donated helmets and the Goleta Chamber donated safety gear for the children.

 The Chamber and City of Goleta partnered to present the 11th annual State of the City address to the business community on April 9th. About 400 government and business leaders and others gathered to hear about the city's many achievements and challenges, plus the latest on Goleta's finances and policy decisions.
Officials also briefed the group on updates to the city's zoning ordinances, Old Town Goleta renovations, cannabis regulation, Fire Station 10, a new multi-modal train station at the location of the existing Amtrak platform, and parks and recreation projects.
Mayor Paula Perotte
asserted that the city of Goleta needs to embrace a "vision to address the opportunities and threats that loom in the near future."
