Business Advocacy
Council Meeting - Moved to April 20th @ 5pm
The Lillooet & District Chamber of Commerce actively participates in most council meetings. We make sure decisions are made in the best interest of businesses, and discuss various topics with District staff. We advocate on behalf of our members for improved services and a better business climate.

Recent considerations included:
  • Location of the farmers market
  • Variance on building permits
  • Municipal tax rates
BC Budget 2022 - Chambers React
The BC government unveiled its 2022 budget in February. The BC Chamber of Commerce network of over 150 local Chambers is actively discussing the implications from the budget and its strengths and weaknesses. One thing is clear: the cost of doing business is too high in BC.

The Lillooet Chamber team actively shares ideas and suggestions on provincial policy with the network, and advocates for reducing the cost of doing business in BC. We are building support amongst the network for topics close at heart: regional transportation, healthcare, and Covid-19.
Zoning Bylaw Updates - Coming June 2022

The District of Lillooet has started the process of reviewing its zoning bylaws for residential, commercial, and industrial properties in Lillooet. The project plan was approved during the February meeting and lays out the timeline for the review. Until June 2022 the District will review its bylaws internally, and present them publicly around June.

The Lillooet Chamber will actively solicit feedback from businesses about zoning updates, and be involved throughout the entire process. If you have ideas around changes in the allowed zoning categories, please reach out at info@lillooetchamber.ca
