The beginning of Rumpke

Rumpke’s history dates to 1932 when founder William F. Rumpke managed a coal delivery and junkyard business in Cincinnati, Ohio. After a customer bartered six pigs in return for his services, William decided to fix up some trucks from his junkyard and enlist relatives to search for waste and food scraps to feed his new additions. And just like that, Rumpke Waste & Recycling was born.

About the Brand

- Today, Rumpke is one of the largest privately-owned waste and recycling firms in the country, with more than 3,600 team members servicing areas of Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia.

- Rumpke is family owned and operated. In fact, more than 75 family members are engaged in company operations today.

- Safety and environmental compliance are top priorities for Rumpke. The company operates 14 landfills, 12 recycling facilities and 18 transfer stations, including the Orange County Transfer Station in Paoli, Indiana.

Providing Services to Orange County & Getting Involved

Rumpke provides waste collection and disposal services for homes and businesses throughout Orange County and southern Indiana. From curbside collection and large-scale clean ups to special events, Rumpke is your local waste services provider.

Rumpke also operates the Orange County Transfer Station, located at 1630 North County Road 275 West in Paoli. The facility is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m. – Noon.

Rumpke is a proud member of the Orange County Economic Development Partnership and the Orleans and Paoli Chambers of Commerce. We are also pleased to partner with WFLQ and WUME Radio, and look forward to supporting local events and high school athletics.
