MEETINGS MEAN BUSINESS
Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) shines a light on the real impact meetings have on people, businesses and the economy. Led by the Meeting Mean Business Coalition, it brings together meetings industry advocates across six continents and more than forty countries. MPI New Jersey in conjunction with ILEA NJ hosted the Ultimate Networking event on the evening of Thursday, April 4 to celebrate the industry's enduring business value and its $2.53 trillion in global economic impact.
Whether you spent time that day with your our MPI Chapter, another industry event, or traveling for business as we often are, I hope you took the time to reflect on just how important this industry is and how vital your individual role is. It is the goal of MPI New Jersey to make each of us better in our professional lives and strengthen this industry as a whole.

On March 13th MPI New Jersey hosted an Education Session in conjunction with NY IAEE at the AFR Warehouse in Secaucus with speaker, Joan Eisenstodt. Joan delivered an incredibly informative and fun session helping us look at meetings differently. As meeting professionals, we need to be cognizant of how our attendee need and want to learn and implement these tactics into our meetings. Details such as room set up and creating interactive moments during the meeting can help take your next meeting beyond the usual!

How did you get your start in the industry?
In the late 70's, started to work for Marriott and loved the customer interaction and satisfaction of accomplishments at work. After many years, moved to the sales and event planning discipline.
Where did you grow up?
Born and raised in Bagheria (Sicily), near Palermo.
What do you love about MPI New Jersey?
MPI and specifically MPI NJ offer the opportunity to make people connections, establish long lasting business and personal relationships (people do business with friends), grow and learn new skill sets, become the best in your field. But you need to work hard in it, be involved and know that each of us make a difference. I became the President of the NJ Chapter in 2007-2008 and worked with so many great people, always striving to take the Chapter to new levels for the benefit of the members. Now, each year I ask and serve on International Committees, continuing the learn and make a difference.
