Now Hiring: Parish Athletic Director

Our Athletic Association serves hundreds of families in our school and parish communities. Until now, this has been a volunteer-run organization filled with dedicated and passionate parents and committed adults. They have done an outstanding job of ministering to our children, and we are grateful for the countless hours of service.

With that being said, the time has come to hire a Parish Athletic Director who can dedicate 30-40 hours/week to leading and managing this vibrant part of our community. Father Black has discussed this with our current volunteer Athletic Director who has filled this position extremely well and he is in complete agreement that a full time staff member is a good move at this time.  We are looking for candidates who might be interested.

Please click this link to view the full job description and application details.

All candidates must be at least 21 and must be PGC/BCI compliant via completing a Protecting God’s Children training and a BCI fingerprint background check. Information on that process is available here.

Purified - Event with Jason Evert at St. Joan of Arc

April 27, 2025

This is a double feature event combining Purified and Gender & the Theology of Your Body into a retreat event.

Purified brings parents and teens (13+) together to discover God’s plan for love and opens up an opportunity for them to continue the discussion about this important topic at home, in a healthy and easy way with resources that work. The event includes a new version of Jason’s renowned talk Love or Lust, where he mixes humor with down-to-earth practicality that removes any awkwardness, making the difficult conversations about love much easier. Your family will leave with an understanding of the good news of chastity, a healthy sense of self-worth, and the ability, if needed, to start again.

Gender and the Theology of Your Body will follow after a short break. This talk asks, “What’s the meaning of sex, gender, and the human body?” The truth of masculinity and femininity are being questioned like never before. Discover how your body as a man or woman reveals your identity and calling. This talk is for teens and adults and provides the opportunity to discuss this difficult topic facing teens and families today.

This event includes Eucharistic Adoration, praise and worship, and an opportunity to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation. This format transforms a couple of talks into a retreat for the family, allowing them to encounter the source of purity, healing, and renewal, Jesus Christ.

This event is hosted by St. Peter St. Joan of Arc Parish, St. Brigid of Kildare, and St. Mary Delaware and will take place at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. The parish will be providing dinner before the first talk beginning at 4:30pm.

(Please note St. Brigid of Kildare students being Confirmed in 2025 may purchase tickets at a discounted rate and should register using a different link provided in an email from Andrea Komenda.)

Operation Rice Bowl

This Lent marks the 50-year Anniversary of Catholic Relief Services Operation Rice Bowl. Rooted in the history of the Eucharistic Congress, CRS Rice Bowl invites parishes in the United States to encounter God and our global family throughout Lent by practicing the pillars of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. 75 percent of all money collected via Operation Rice Bowl supports CRS programming around the world. 25 percent remains in the Diocese to support local food relief efforts. Last year, over $44,000 was allocated to food pantries throughout the Diocese from Operation Rice Bowl.

The Mantle - High School Youth Ministry

Hi there, St. Brigid Parish! Happy Triduum!

We have had a full Lenten season here at The Mantle, and it has been such a gift!

This past month we played wild games like Ultimate Telestrations, Crazy Cup Game, Hot Topic Night, and Shuffle Your Buns. We had the opportunity to have social media evangelist, Jayden Remias, come and talk to us on freedom, a talk on fasting in Lent and in our life in general, a talk on defending the faith, where we got to enter into different scenarios to practice that, and also a talk on our part in the passion, and how Jesus took every part of the passion with us in mind. We also have been entering into the Lenten season with a Lenten study every Wednesday.

We got to go see a lot of our teens in their musicals and sports so far this spring which has been so fun! We got to welcome in some of our 8th graders after their Confirmation, which was such a gift and we can’t wait to see them around more next year!

We also had one of our teens write up a musical about our youth group and we performed that this past Sunday, and it was so much fun! It is a gift to celebrate the teens and their giftings.

We are looking forward to the last sprint of our year and diving into a full summer of activities.

Thank you so much for your love and support of us, and we are praying for you all, especially that this Triduum would be fruitful and that Jesus would draw close to you in a new way!

In Mary’s Mantle,

Ellie Hanson, High School Youth Minister

Pontifical Good Friday Collection

From Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in America

Every year on Good Friday, a collection is taken up in Catholic Churches to support the work of the Franciscans working in the Holy Land. Christians there rely heavily on the help that comes to them from this worldwide collection. The Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in America is part of a world-wide network of Commissariats of the Holy Land which function as bridges between the Holy Land and Christians all over the world. The Franciscan Monastery in Washington, D.C., coordinates this vital support for the work of the Franciscans who work in the Holy Land. The Franciscans of the Custody of the Holy Land have the unique responsibility to care for the Holy Places as well for the “Living Stones,” the Christians living there. It is vital that we support Christians living in the Holy Land, in order to maintain a Christian presence in the very land made holy by the life, death and Resurrection of Jesus.

The Way of the Cross

"The Way of the Cross happens in the heart of a city where millions of people carry their daily cross, most of the time dreadfully alone: “If God exists, He has nothing to do with my daily life.” This is the true cross of every day, the cross of a person abandoned only to himself in his innermost need for never-ending love, truth, beauty and justice. We need the presence of “God with us,” Jesus every day. And Jesus, because of the sacrifice of His cross and because of His resurrection, dwells among us, every day." – Servant of God, Fr. Luigi Giussani, Founder of Communion and Liberation. Join Bishop Earl K. Fernandes on the Way of the Cross this Good Friday, April 18th from 2:00pm to 4:00 pm at St. Joseph Cathedral.
