New Scholarship Created for Catholic Education

Saint Brigid of Kildare Parish is happy to announce the creation of the Bishop Robert J. Brennan and Murico Family Scholarship for Catholic Education. This scholarship will be awarded annually to a Saint Brigid of Kildare Parish eighth grade student who is registered to attend a Catholic high school for the upcoming school year.

The scholarship will amount to a $3,500 gift for the selected student to use towards their Catholic high school tuition. This scholarship was established from a combined donation from Bishop Robert J. Brennan and Carmen and Mary Murico. Bishop Robert Brennan chose to forgo the normal stipend received for Confirmation -- instead, he left it to each pastor's discretion how to use this stipend each year. Monsignor Hendricks chose to use the stipend to establish the Bishop Robert J. Brennan Scholarship for Catholic Education. In addition, Carmen and Mary Murico committed to partnering in this scholarship with an annual donation, bringing the total scholarship to $3,500, to be awarded each year.

" We wanted to give back to St. Brigid because both the parish and school have had such a positive and significant impact on our family," said Carmen Murico. " A Catholic education has given our children thorough academics which prepared them well for their higher education.  More importantly, our daughters gained a spiritual foundation from a dedicated staff during their elementary and high school days.  This faith community has stayed with them to this day."

The scholarship recipient will be a Saint Brigid of Kildare Parish eighth grade student enrolled in either the Religious Education program or Saint Brigid of Kildare School, and registered to attend a Catholic high school for the 2019-2020 school year.  Monsignor Hendricks will select the student and announce the recipient on Thursday, May 30, 2019.

Saint Brigid of Kildare Parish is grateful to Bishop Robert J. Brennan and Carmen and Mary Murico for their faithful and generous support of Saint Brigid of Kildare Parish and Catholic education.

Welcome New Parishioners!

Please help us in extending a welcome to our 28 new parishioners that we recently celebrated with a New Parishioner Welcome Luncheon on April 7.

This event is held each year in the fall and in the spring to introduce new parishioners and families to other parishioners and have volunteers available to answer any questions about parish life and how to get involved.

New Email & Text  Scam  in Diocese

During the past few months there were a series of phony e-mails being sent to unsuspecting persons (clergy, teachers, parishioners, others) from alleged priests of the Dioceses - including a phony one from Bishop Campbell - requesting funds to purchase iTune and other gift cards for alleged charitable and pastoral reasons.

Now there is a new  scam - using text messages to convey similar requests. There have been many parishioners who have received these texts this week (from someone claiming to be Monsignor Hendricks, asking for help).

If you receive any kind of communication/solicitation please contact the individual directly to verify the authenticity of the solicitation or, at least to notify the person that a  scam is underway using their identity.
