Officer Appointment Changes: Supporting You Through Transition

Officer appointment changes will be announced tomorrow. For many officers and families, this season brings a mixture of emotions. In these moments of transition, we want to remind you that you are not walking this journey alone.

We invite you to explore our Corps Appointment Change Resources, created to equip and encourage officers preparing to step into a new appointment. Discover The First 100 Days: a thoughtful guide for entering a new ministry setting and a farewell brief template to ensure a smooth and caring leadership transition. Each resource is designed to help you move forward with prayerful intention, rooted in your calling, and attentive to the people God has entrusted in your care.

In the midst of change, we pray you will experience God’s presence going before you, sustaining you and gently guiding you with each step.

Resource for Congregations

Officer transitions are sacred moments in the life of a church, holding both gratitude for what has been and hope for what is to come. How a congregation responds during this time can shape the experience for both outgoing and incoming officers in meaningful and lasting ways. If you are part of a congregation in a local corps undergoing an officer appointment change, this resource is especially for you.

Caring Through Change is a gentle, practical guide designed to help congregations navigate transitions with grace and intentionality, offering thoughtful ways to say farewell and warmly welcome new officers and their families. From prayerful support to creating a spirit of hospitality and patience in a new beginning, this resource invites congregations to reflect the heart of Christ during seasons of change.

As officers come and go, we pray each corps will experience God’s faithfulness in both the goodbyes and the hellos, and that every transition will be marked by love, encouragement and hope.

A New Resource from the Candidates Department

We’re pleased to feature Calling Conversations: a resource designed to support mentors, leaders and officers walking alongside individuals discerning a call to full-time vocational ministry. You are encouraged to use this in ongoing conversations, allowing time and space for discernment to unfold and you are thanked for the vital role you play in nurturing and discerning God’s call in the lives of others.
