Dear Parents and Families,
We continue our school-wide theme of learning about HOPE. Mrs. Beliveau, Mrs. Cerra, Mrs. Crandall and Mrs. Samse presented their thoughts to the faculty at last week’s meeting.
During the Lenten season and the Jubilee Year of Hope they shared the story of the “Legend of the Donkey’s Cross."
As we recall on Palm Sunday, Jesus led his followers into the city of Jerusalem riding on the back of a small, common donkey. Jesus’ “triumphal entry” into Jerusalem on a donkey, a seemingly simple act, is a powerful symbol of humility and peace. It reminds us that true leadership is not about power or force, but about service and love. Similarly, the donkey symbolizes meekness and peace. Fulfilling the prophecy in Zechariah, Jesus entered Jerusalem riding a donkey, not a warhorse, to demonstrate his peaceful and humble nature.
There are numerous lessons for us to learn. The lesson for us regarding humility: Jesus chose a donkey, a common animal, to symbolize his humble mission and to fulfill prophecy.
The lesson for us regarding peace: the donkey is a symbol of peace, not war, which contrasts with the expectations of the people who wanted a military leader. The lesson regarding service: Jesus’ actions show that true leadership is about serving others, not ruling over them. Finally, the lesson regarding trust: the disciples, without hesitation, followed Jesus’s instructions to obtain the donkey. They demonstrated their trust in Jesus’ leadership.
We can learn from Jesus’ life and examples. During this Lenten season, leading up to
Easter, let’s try to be humble, peaceful, hopeful and focused on serving others even when we are faced with challenges or temptations to seek power or recognition.
We highly recommend sharing the story of “The Legend of the Donkey’s Cross” with your children at home. This beautiful story will give new meaning to you regarding the cross that appears on donkeys’ backs.
Wishing all a Blessed Easter!

Opportunity to Fulfill Your Fundraising Obligation –
Fore the Children Tournament
Fore the Children, the Corpus Christi School Golf Tournament, will be an exciting day
filled with fun on the course, delicious and plentiful food and drink, amazing prizes, and
wonderful company. It’s also a great opportunity to fulfill your Home and School
Fundraising Obligation (HFO). 50% of all sponsorships that you bring in will go
towards your HFO. For example, for every tee sign sponsorship you bring in, 50% of it
will go towards your requirement ($175 x .50 = $87.50). If you or your company are
interested in a larger sponsorship, such as the Dinner Sponsorship, you could earn
even more towards your HFO. To receive credit to your HFO account, the sponsorship
paperwork must be in by April 21.
We welcome players of all levels! If you don’t play, we also have an option to join us for
cocktails and dinner. Plan now to take the day off from work on Monday, May 5th so you
can join us for a fun day supporting a great cause!

Dear Parents/Guardians,
I will be doing Scoliosis Screening on all 5 and 7th grade girls and 8th grade boys during the month of April. It is done during gym class in my office and with respect for your child’s privacy. Please have your girl wear a sports bra so I can still see her back and measure her
shoulders and hips. It goes fairly quickly and if I see anything of. concern, I will contact you to follow up with your child’s Physician by letter. Children can grow very rapidly during this time and sometimes the spine can curve. The sooner the issue is addressed, the better the
outcome.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Mrs. Cowan RN BS

Social Emotional Wellness
As we enter warmer weather, we hope to encourage students to engage in fun and safe activities outside! Self-care helps us to care for our physical, emotional, and mental health, building resilience. No matter what age, it is important to “fill our cup” to increase energy levels and feelings of happiness.
Ideas for self-care for all ages:
- Establishing healthy routines, eating habits, and hygiene
- Daily exercise: walk, run, stretching, yoga, or any type of movement!
- Play! - with others or individually; enjoy the fresh air!
- Encouraging creativity: art projects, coloring, journaling, dance, etc.
- Encouraging hobbies and interests
- Breaks from electronics (tablets, iPads, phones, TV)
Modeling self-care can teach your children how to maintain a calm body, focused mind, and establish healthy boundaries.
Thank you,
Miss Erica Amato, LCSW
Social Worker
