Welcome to April Council Connect

President's Message - Judy Weston

Put me in Coach, I’m ready to play!

Baseball time! I love watching a game and enjoy the camaraderie of the team. If you are reading this article, you are on a team. It’s been a tough month and I need to put everything into perspective through baseball.

I have to take a step back and thank the wonderful women of the LDCCW who have said yes to taking their turn at bat. In my travels, I have visited several deanery board meetings and continue to attend my PCCW meeting. Everyone is a part of a team. In baseball, everyone must step up to the plate when you are in the lineup. You have to take your turn at swinging the bat, it doesn’t mean you will hit a home run, strike out or make a base hit, it usually means you are going to advance your team little by little at each base. What is important is you are playing on a team.

Spirituality-Shelly Chloupek

As a new co-chair of this spirituality commission, along with Barb Kadlec, I sat down to review our handbook to remind myself of just what the Spirituality Commission includes. We do have quite a broad list of quality efforts that we support with our funds including Funds for Nuns, Parent Educator books, and The Our Lady of Good Counsel Burse for priests and Good Counsel Retreat Center. We encourage so many spiritual prayer efforts like Divine Mercy and Seven Sisters Apostolate. There are five great retreats in April at the Good Counsel Retreat Center as well. www.goodcounselretreat.org It is worth a look over the spirituality section of the handbook if you haven't lately.

Divine Mercy - Bonnie Damrow

5,480 Reasons to Pray this Lent

During her many visions of Jesus, St Bridget of Sweden asked Jesus how many blows He suffered? He replied, there were 5,480 and if she prayed the “15 O's" for one year she would honor each one of His wounds. This prayer known as "The Fifteen Prayers of St Bridget of Sweden" can be found several places online, one is EWTN.com and several you tube videos to pray along with.

Service-Joyce Reich

Service is what prayer looks like when it gets up off its knees and walks around in the world. -

Michael J. Graham, S.J.

How are you praying today? There are many acts of service available to all of us across the Diocese of Lincoln. Helping someone who is unable to drive get to Sunday or daily Mass, the Stations of the Cross during this holy season of Lent, or to a Lenten penance service would fill someone's heart with gratitude and love. Take someone who would otherwise not get there to

one of the Diocesan Jubilee Pilgrimage sites.

Leadership-Jane Potts

Spring is in the air! There are signs everywhere. The farmers are working their fields to prepare for planting. Grass and plants are starting to green up. Baby calves are soaking up the sun. As we see new life and growth, let us be inspired to step into leadership roles. Your life is far more extraordinary that you could ever imagine.

Let us use these feelings of new life, hope and change to bring renewal of our councils. It is a busy world we live in so, maybe, it’s time for a new approach to our meetings:

  1. Change meeting time (Be flexible)
  2. Add a program or activity
  3. Invite a friend
  4. Be open to new ideas

SPRING into action! “Where flowers bloom, so does hope”!

In Loving Memory.......

Of our dear sister, Diane Synek of Deweese, who served on the LDCCW Executive Board as Financial Secretary and Treasurer (2022-24). Diane met Our Lord on March 11, 2025. We offer our prayers for her eternal rest and for her family who mourns.

Do you love your faith and history?

The LDCCW is in need of a person who is willing to update our history. Duties included are not only taking pictures at our meetings and events, but also formatting the history and ensuring it will be placed in the archives at the Diocesan Chancery.

For more information please email Judy Weston at ldccwpresident@gmail.com or call or text 402-984-5856.

President's Project:

Adopt a Pregnancy Center

Please choose a Pregnancy Center you would like to support. Many of those who volunteer would enjoy the personal connection from their local Parish Council of Catholic Women (PCCW). We currently have lists from pregnancy centers and one from St. Gianna for their apartment needs. Please use the list as a reference of what to purchase. If you wish to send money to the Pregnancy Center please send the money  directly to Pregnancy Center

The spiritual needs of the centers are important as well. Use the Spiritual Bouquet cards and send them to your local pregnancy center and let them know they are receiving  spiritual cover to do their work.
