Update from the DFF
As most of you may already know, gymnastics schools fell under the mandatory closure as part of the community effort to social distance. This is particularly hard on the special needs children, because gymnastics class is a part of their routine, which is now disrupted. Gymnastics has also been a great way for them to burn off excess energy and frustration. Their absence from the gym unfortunately also slows their psycho-social-physical progress. In this newsletter are some pictures, prior to the gym closures, of many of the groups you support. We hope that you will continue to make your regular donations to our cause because these kids will be needing this activity now more than ever before. And, we will be ready and waiting for their return to the gyms in the near future.

The Discover Fitness Foundation program has greatly benefited the students at Monarch School and Institute. Students who are usually reluctant to participate in motor activities are almost always excited to go to gymnastics because there is a variety of activities in which to practice gross motor skills. We have one student who is often lethargic and rarely participates in movement activities. However, when at gymnastics, he is the first to get in line to do the activities and absolutely loves going on the trampoline. He will rotate through the trampoline multiple times, even after all of the other students have had their fill. This program also allows the students to have fun doing activities outside their comfort zone. EJ generally struggles with trying new activities. However, when at gymnastics, EJ will try every activity at least once with minimal prompting. We have really enjoyed and learned so much through our gymnastics field trips, thanks to Discover Fitness Foundation!" -
