We are excited to restart our district's monthly Digital Citizenship newsletter. We hope to provide the families in our district information around the technology being used along with resources to support your child's education.

Digital Citizenship - Building a Positive Digital Footprint

Each year, all students in K-12 have the opportunity to participate in lessons dealing with Digital Citizenship. Many of these lessons focus on the idea of what kids can do to make sure they are building a positive digital footprint. Our district is committed to finding ways to make sure that students know the importance of the information they post on social media. We are in a time where a student's digital footprint is just as important as the information they will include on their resume. Tech to Help Support Kids and Families at Home

We all want our kids to be good digital citizens, and while their ability to use technology isn’t usually a problem, their ability to do so safely and responsibly sometimes is. Helping them learn these skills means that we parents and caregivers have to set and maintain tech boundaries - for ourselves and our kids! As we all know, though, that can be super difficult. Here are a few articles with ideas for making the process a little easier:

Technology Used to Support Learning

Over the past two years, we have made some adjustments to the technology being used by our students. With these device adjustments we have also slightly modified the Learning Management Systems (LMS) we are using. Here is a table sharing with you the devices and LMS that students are using at each grade level along with some information about these programs:

In grades K-3, our teachers and students use SeeSaw as a way to create, reflect, share and collaborate. Teachers can share links, videos and other learning information while students can post to show what they know (with their teachers AND parents)!

Schoology is a platform that easily allows our students and teachers to communicate, create and manage classroom content. We use Schoology in grades 4-12. Schoology includes advanced features such as assessments, discussion forums and linking to Google Drive.
