Leadership Essentials 2023 continues! This year's cohort, comprised of 24 emerging leaders, met twice in March. Thank you to our amazing March presenters - Dr. Troy Boddy led a session on Leadership Foundations of Equity & Inclusion; David Suk Brown provided an energetic presentation on Effective Communication and Executive Presence; and, Kelly Mitchell and Denise Powell, with ImpactHR, presented a session on Conflict Management.
We're looking forward to welcoming Stacie Hunt, LP '02, in April who will talk about Visionary Leadership and and include conversations with local leaders about their leadership experience. Whether you’re casting a vote or interested in running for a position, Columbia Association (CA) wants to make sure you have the information you need to get involved in your village board and CA Board elections. The timing is unique and runs from April to May, within the Columbia Association's fiscal cycle. All Villages have their own timeframe and procedures to it's important to be informed. Learn more. | |

Mentors are sought for Career Connections/International Professional students enrolled in this six-week program designed to connect HCC students with professionals in their target fields (specifically inside sales for tech, medical sales, and a role close to aviation). Mentor meetings are virtual and scheduled for the weeks of April 13 and 25.

HCC's Rouse Scholars Honors Program is seeking professionals working in speech-language pathology, social services, zoology, veterinarian, psychiatry, health sciences, film/media/digital marketing, web development, cybersecurity, biomedical engineering, chemistry, and astronomy to attend an on-campus career day at HCC from 2 to 3:20 pm on April 10 and April 12.
| | The Howard County Board of Education will recognize Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Iota Lamba Omega Chapter with its prestigious Friends of Education Award, as well as Friends of Education nominees, Lisa Krausz, Clarksville Youth Care Group, Columbia MD Chapter Continental Societies and Howard County Sheriff’s Department for their contributions to the school system during their BOE Meeting April 13, 2023, beginning at 4 pm. Our Environment in Our Hands Volunteers - environmental education program for 4th grade students; volunteers will be assigned to a science station during this field experience and training will be provided.

Simulated Congressional Hearing Judges - to judge 5th grade students as they demonstrate their knowledge on issues related to the constitution as part of the Simulated Congressional Hearings program. Volunteers will simulate the role of a Congressional panel by listening to and asking questions of the students who are testifying as expert witnesses; training will be provided.
When: Various dates in May and June
Where: Elementary schools throughout Howard County
