2020 Annual Award Winners
The Bardstown-Nelson County Chamber of Commerce typically hosts an Annual Awards Ceremony, but due to COVID, the event was cancelled with plans for an Annual Event to be planned later in the year. The Chamber felt it necessary to go ahead and honor our winners by surprising them with close friends and family in a private ceremony. In 2020, the year provided many challenges, but there were some community members that stood out with their passion and commitment to helping others during such unprecedented times. The Chamber caught these special moments on video that you can watch on Facebook.
Congratulations to our 2020 Annual Award Winners:
Woman of the Year: Celeste Dawson
Man of the Year: Matt Bowman
Lifetime Achievement: Bill Conway
2020 Lifetime Achievement Award- Hall of Fame, Bill Conway grew up in a family that understood the importance of philanthropy and giving back to the community. From being a charter member of the Bardstown Rotary Club to serving for over 20 years on the Bardstown industrial Development Corporation, Bill’s involvement in numerous local organizations and committees has helped to shape the success of Bardstown and Nelson County. He has also been a long time supporter of Flaget Memorial Hospital, currently serving as the Chair on the Patient Family Advisory Council and Chair Elect for the Foundation Board of Directors. Bill Conway, has volunteered for many projects over the years to make our Community better.

Celeste also partnered with the Bardstown Blessing Boxes, with over 215 bags of food donated to the project. Celeste Dawson is the type of volunteer that every organization needs and seeks out. Her dedication to Bethany Haven, Room at the Inn, Bardstown Bark Park and the Foster Care Review Board is unmatched. Congratulations to Celeste Dawson, 2020 Woman of the Year!
2020 Man of the Year, Matt Bowman was a primary leader in the Food for life Pantry program. He has worked diligently for Bethany Haven. He has not only improved these programs, but now there is a new men's shelter that was renovated by mostly community volunteers. Matt is a humble and compassionate man. He builds consensus among those he works with and is a dedicated leader to his causes! He has made Bardstown and Nelson County a better place to live. Congratulations to Matt Bowman, 2020 Man of the Year!

Spotlight of the Month
Abound Credit Union

The Bardstown-Nelson County Chamber of Commerce would like to recognize Abound Credit Union as Spotlight of the Month.

Abound Credit Union helps Kentuckians achieve more.

Founded 70 years ago by ten Kentuckians, the Credit Union has grown up with the communities we serve. With 18 locations and more than 100,000 Members, it is easy to see how Abound makes more possible.

Today, we’ve become Kentucky’s largest credit union.

We’re proud of our investments in military and community health. The military is our backbone, so providing resources to these men and women will always help us stand strong. We’ve provided a long-term $1.5 Million investment to prove our continued support for our military families, that will add primary care providers, patient services and connect military families and all patients to community resources. This investment even offers financial services and education, with everything housed in one clinic.

Over the years, Abound and its Members has donated more than $325,000 to USA Cares, supporting their mission to provide financial and advocacy assistance to post-9/11 active-duty U.S. military service personnel, veterans and their families. This money has directly helped 100 military families pay utility bills, buy food and fuel and other housing costs.

It’s our unwavering belief that together, we can do more.
